IMO, the team we have now has some potential all big-12 players in Cam, Fitz, maybe Pledger or Newell, and I think the MSU transfer will be our best player next season.
So the nucleus is there for a good OU team in a few seasons, as long as we keep adding quality talent.
But with the loss of T.J., Cade graduating, several players who do not deserve scholarships at this level, we have some glaring holes. We have only the big JC forward to replace them. I am excited about him, no doubt, but we are worlds behind other big 12 schools, at this juncture.
I looked at the rivals top-150 and there is literally only 10 guys who haven't signed yet. Capel has to land some of these guys, especially considering that KU, OSU, UT, BU, KSU, A&M are all adding top-notch players to their already more talented rosters.
The worst part is OU is not even on any of these guys' radars, except for the Richardson kid from Edmond. Speaking of, why on earth does he not have an offer? I don't know if he is all that great but we need a SG with some size and he fits the build. He is a rivals top-150 guy, too.
What Coach has to work with is never going to consistently beat the type of teams we will face every night in the Big 12. The Big 12 is quickly turning into one of the top bball conferences in the country, and we seem to be declining.
I am all for Capel, and will support him til the end. I think he can lure the right kind of guys here, but he needs to stop being such a nice guy and start evaluating his current roster to figure out who can play at this level. We cannot afford to take it easy in the early period because we only have enough scholarships to take 1 player. Go out there and get all the 4-stars you can and figure out who is gonna have a jersey next season like Calipari does.
Does anyone have any idea who we are recruiting for the late signing period?
If I am nervous, how does Capel feel right about now?
