CBS has moved us up to 16. ESPN has moved us up to 20.

How generous of ESPN. Only 3 spots behind the OSU team we have a better record than and just trounced.

And how does that make ESPN different from everyone else? Virtually no one has OU ahead of OSU.

Power rankings are not predictive, but rather, current rankings.

OU should be ahead of OSU in any power ranking right now.

John Gassaway is a complete idiot. Not that I really care he was the only one to leave us out when no one else had us below 22, but these things really don't matter. I doubt he has watched us play a single game. Just keep winning ball games and who cares.

I checked the daily RPI thing too, and it has below OSU despite a better record by a half game and a harder SOS. :facepalm

Well CBS and ESPN were the two posted in this thread, and we are ahead of them in CBS.

I disagree. A power ranking is not a poll that penalizes teams in terms of recent losses; it is meant to list teams in order of who is better, on a neutral court. We beat OSU at home, OSU has not had the chance to return the favor. Our records are basically identical and OSU has shown more than OU, in addition to having more national recognition coming in.

It's all trivial anyways and both teams are close enough that it's really too hard to get very worked up over the rankings. Seems very little brother-ish to me.

So those are the only 2 power rankings that are relevant in terms of discussion? The vast majority of unbiased power ratings out there (RPI, BPI, Sagarin, Ken Pomeroy, etc.) have OSU ahead of OU. And Ken Pomeroy and Sagarin don't even have us close. Take off the crimson glasses.

OSU's body of work is better, which is what a lot of the ratings take into consideration.

However, the portion of their wins which are impressive came with Cobbins.

I guess I had my crimson glasses on when I watched us dominate them for 40 minutes straight.

I guess it's incredibly biased of me to think we are better than a team we are ahead of in the standings, have a better record than, and just blew out less than 5 days ago.

How has OSU showed more? I am not saying they have or haven't, I just don't see how you can really say one team has shown more than the other.

We beat OSU at home in a game that was within reach into the final minutes. Let's see if we can do the same at Stillwater.

We have basically the same record. We have a marginally bad loss (La Tech), while OSU does not.

We also have several close wins against inferior opponents. Games we were lucky to get out with the W (but we did). OSU does not.

Nearly every single unbiased computer out there has OSU ahead of OU. Yes, you have crimson glasses when you whine that OU should be ahead of OSU, when in reality, both teams are pretty even, with the current edge slightly to OSU.

OSU has not been pushed to the wire against bad teams (Seton Hall/ UTA, heck even TCU). OSU played better out of conference and has not had the same opportunities for quality home wins in conference as OU. I don't think the difference between the 2 is significant, but given the fact that nearly every computer has OSU over OU gives credence to the fact that they should be ranked higher IMO.

At the very least, there shouldn't be posters acting like it is some sort of travesty or injustice. Besides, power rankings are meaningless.

Those computers rank an OSU team higher that had Cobbins. Without him they are not nearly the same team and their body of work has been a struggle at best.
