Power rankings

We beat OSU at home in a game that was within reach into the final minutes. Let's see if we can do the same at Stillwater.

We have basically the same record. We have a marginally bad loss (La Tech), while OSU does not.

We also have several close wins against inferior opponents. Games we were lucky to get out with the W (but we did). OSU does not.

Nearly every single unbiased computer out there has OSU ahead of OU. Yes, you have crimson glasses when you whine that OU should be ahead of OSU, when in reality, both teams are pretty even, with the current edge slightly to OSU.

Did you even watch bedlam?

Those computers rank an OSU team higher that had Cobbins. Without him they are not nearly the same team and their body of work has been a struggle at best.

Let me be clear. I think ou and Osu are comparable. The computers aren't as generous. Especially for a guy that was a 5 and 4 guy.

5 & 4 drastically undersells what Cobbins did for OSU. Not only did his injury do the obvious like shorten the bench and alter rotations, but OSU no longer has any sort of prescience defensively on the inside. Look what Spangler did against the Cowboys. He doesn't have that near performance if Cobbins is able to play. OU also doesn't get near as many good looks near the basket, nor spend as much time around the free throw line with someone there who can do something else besides foul in the post.

I can't believe we lost at KSU.
No way OSU would ever do that.

A) so losing to an inferior team on the road doesnt compromise your superiority? and b) Osu lost at home to a team like la tech?

When the team you're being compared to also lost to them on the road? Not so much.

oswho beat a 12-9 Butler (2-7 in conference) by 2 points on a neutral court. So if you want to stress the La Tech game above all else in appraising OU -- and it appears you do -- then surely oswho gets at least half a demerit for that game. Plus the fact that, y'know, we just beat oswho by 12 points. And we have a better record than they do. And we're several spots above them in the conference standings.

But by all means, maintain laser focus on the La. Tech game if you wish. After all, it's not as though we've improved since then, especially defensively.

OSU's Butler game is more comparable to our win over Seton Hall. Then we have the hiccup against a really bad UTA team at home. Then we have the loss to La Tech. OSU doesn't have anything like either of those games.

I'm as big of an OU fan as there is, but I also can be objective.

I'm pretty sure that UTA game was last year.

You are not being objective. You're being an idiot

Look at conference games. I think it's clear we have had tougher conference sch and we have a better record

You are not being objective. You are being biased. OU played a string of fair to middling teams early on. Any of which were capable of exposing any weakness a young team might have.

OSU, on the other hand with an experienced team, took on the likes of Emporia St. Miss, Valley St., Utah Valley, Ark Pine Bluff, Delaware St., and Robert Morris.

OU has played more teams that had at least an ability to compete than OSU has. OU was the better team in Norman by any measure. OSU might win when they play OU at home. But, we don't yet if they actually can.

Anyone that has OSU ahead of OU is basing it on the preseason Aggie hype.

I find it comical how I am not "objective" when the argument is over 2 teams that have similar results and resumes. My main points are (1) getting worked up over power rankings is little brother-ish and (2) OSU and OU are fairly evenly matched to this point, so there is little reason to act as if it is some sort on injustice that anyone would view OSU as better than OU when nearly every single unbiased computer has them ahead of OU, some well ahead of OU.

OU has a chance to make a major statement today on the road. That is where good teams separate and distinguish themselves from the pack. On the other hand, OSU struggling at home against Baylor would be a horrible loss.

God, OSU is so damn good.

Shouldn't you be whining about something like why you can't figure out a cable package that carries the ou games? I know it's hard for you to go more than a day without whining about something.

Says the guy who just spent two days on an OU board arguing about what a great team OSU is.

Perhaps your reading comprehension is poor. As I stated on more that one occasion, my biggest beef was people that whine about meaningless power rankings when teams have (had) similar resumes. Continue your whining.

I'm confused. In the beginning you said OSU's body of work was clearly better than OU. Now, their resumes are similar. Is that because OSU has lost 3 of the last 4, while OU has won 4 in a row, or did you decide to change your tune in midstream?

One thing we agree on, though. The power rankings mean absolutely nothing at this point in the season.
