JMO, but no way they redshirt Bennett

I know they are considering it. They have three guys to play in the post. Fitz, Osby and M'Baye. Arent can give a few minutes if there is severe foul trouble so there really isn't a need to play Bennett. He either has to prove he can impact the game a bunch or that he isn't good enough to play in the future and they want the scholarship back.

If Bennett isn't ready, this would be a good year to sit him out and give him the time to develop. That's especially important now that Arent is reportedly showing that he may be able to give us quality minutes in a back up role.

Personally, I thought Arent should have redshirted last season. I'd hate to see us make the same mistake with Bennett.

I agree that if he isn't ready, he isn't going to get much PT either way.

I just hate to have so many guys next year that haven't played in a year. Spangler will be that way already, and Cole (don't expect him to play much this year) as well. If you add Bennett to that, along with breaking in two new JUCO guys to D1 ball (Elliot and Hamilton), plus any additional HS player we bring in, and that is a lot of inexperience.

I say let him play. I know Arent may look better now, but I'm just not convinced he is good enough to even serve as the 4th big man.

if bennett isn't ready it is a good time to have him use a year ..and be a senior next year and get him 1 step closer to being replaced
