Back on the main floor again today. There was another pretty good crowd. I would estimate 40+.

There were no black shirts today. There was only red and white. The red shirts were Grooms, Heild, Cam, Osby, Fitz, M'Baye, and Hornbeak. On one hand one could say the starting five were Grooms, Heild, Cam, Osby, and M'Baye with Hornbeak backing up both Grooms and Heild. But, Kruger rotated those 7 in several combinations. The group that got the most reps together, I had only seen that combination once before, was Grooms, Cam, M'Baye, Osby, and Fitz. That is a pretty good looking operation.

They were a group of stellar defenders and scoring was coming from alot of places and in alot of different ways. I'm not saying that is going to be the way forward. But, it is a good example of the many options Kruger has to get a good result.

Practice progessed from conditioning drills to defensive drillls. Then to a controlled 5 on 5 half court scrimmage and finally the last 40 minutes to a full court scrimmage. When they went to full court, Hornbeak moved over to the white shirts. When they went to full court the white shirt starters were Cousins, Pledger, Neal, Hornbeak, and Casey. My best guess is that is what we will see in the big Satuday scrimmage.

The red shirt starters will likely be Grooms, Heild, Cam, Osby, and M'baye. Along with Fitz, it looked like the reds will also pick up Cole, James, and mayby Spangler and Jarod.

I'm not making any predictions. I am just reporting the news. Grooms was clanging them off the iron today and Cousins is going to be a good one. Cousins is never hurried or panicked. When he has the ball, even when pressured, he just efforlessly glides up the court. He gets the offense started and goes about his business. He also nailed a couple of pretty pull up 3's today.

Buddy was fine today in practice. Good effort on both sides of the ball and he was rebounding again today. He didn't score much and on defense he is still alittle behind the curve on getting his assignments down pat. Right now it is a learning deal, not a can not do deal. Cam was solid again. That kid can jump out of the gym. Osby was back to normal to today. But, that isn't so bad. The good news is that M'Baye showed some signs the his shot was rounding back to form. Not quite there yet. But, he popped a couple from 3. Fitz was a notch better than the he others today. He can be best player in the gym.

For the white shirts, I can not say enough about Cousins. I'll stop trying. Pledger, going against the 1's, was moving really well, getting his shot off and scoring. Give him extra credit for that. Hornbeak did a good job with both teams. No one had a bad practice but no one really did much to set themselves apart.

This team has a long way to go. They have plenty of time and plenty of things to work on. It is just Oct. But, this is a completly different deal.

Gary, I'll echo what Traveler said. Your practice reports have been greatly appreciated!

And, for the record, I'm definitely one who will not hold you to your prediction on the top eight rotation.
