The players were give 2 weeks off after the NDSU loss. There were 4 post season practices scheduled. Today was the last of the 4 and he 1st one that I attended. There isn't any more official activities scheduled until June.
The team is down to 11 players. 4 of them are walkons. I didn't stay for quite all f it. But, it was a spirited practice. The 1st segment was a variety of shooting drills followed by pushups for those that missed too many. They then broke into about 20 minutes of 2 on 2 games and the 3 on 3 for another 20/30minutes. The drill was 1/2 court.
It was a lot of hustle, hard play, and fouls to match. Buddy and Cousins were always defending each other. That was a treat. In just this short time it looks as though they have already taken a step forward.
Two others that deserve mention were Bennett and Booker. Frank already seems to have thickened some thru his shoulders and chest. He was really working hard when on defense. Bennett had what was probably his best practice since before his foot injury. He was good around the basket, made a couple of big boy post moves, and hit a couple of jumpers from the 10 ft. range. Maybe he heard that Kruger recruited a couple of post players.
On the recruiting front. Allen is now the primary target for the spring period. He will make a nice player. Just not as quickly as a player like Goodman might have. There is an unnamed combo guard that is now being pursued. I'm sure they will land a useful guard. This staff always seems to have a backup plan.
I'm looking forward to the June workouts. I'll post info as I get it.
