Wayman spurned some of Dicky V's favorite "Rolls Royce coaches" to sign with Tubbs and OU that day in mid-April of 1982.

FWIW, that was also the last season in which there was only one signing period. So we really had to sweat that one out until it was announced.

A signing that changed the history of the program.

No doubt about it!

Arguably one of the most important signatures in college basketball. Period. It would be hard to name athletes in any sport who have rivaled Wayman's impact on the game of basketball.

There will never be another WT! He's one for the ages. :oldwt356:

You could say it changed the history of the school. Gave the school national exposure on a new stage that carries through to this day.

I agree. Without Wayman we may never have had the great success of the 80s in basketball. That success paved the way for Sampson which then led to another Final Four.
