Pritchard reclassifying as 2015 Class?

I don't like the move for a four year player, unless he redshirts. It makes sense if you're just heading to the league as soon as possible, as you're just getting a year ahead of the curve on actually getting paid to play. But a guy like Pritchard who is likely here four years, would probably be better served to spend the year getting bigger and stronger.

Why do we assume Pritchard will be in Norman for four years? I certainly hope he will be, but he's sufficiently highly rated as a recruit that I would think he would be considered an NBA prospect.

I'd rather him take another year and just mature physically in high school and put less strain on our guard minutes.. but I'm SO excited for him to get to OU!

I don't think he has NBA athleticism or size.

It would be shocking if he was not a 4 year guy. He's listed at 6'0" by the recruiting sites. Not a whole lot of 6'0" (or shorter) guys declaring early for the draft.

How quickly you forget about the greatness of TMG.

If Payton Pritchard comes in early, he'll play and play often his first season, and you can take that to the bank.

Some of you seem to forget or don't know that Payton will be the highest ranked recruit (top 40) Coach Kruger has brought to OU since he arrived four years ago. He was named "POY" in Class 6A in Oregon last year, while running the offense on a state championship team. That is not the kind of player who will stay on the bench too long at OU.

Pritchard will at the very least be a back up to Woodard his first season. Cousins may play that role early on, but everyone on this board should know by now that he is not a point guard. He is also turnover prone. Besides, Isaiah is at his best when he plays the two, free of the pressures of running our offense.

I don't know if Payton will be here this fall. But, one thing we all know for sure is that LK will not hesitate to play (even start) a freshman right out of the gate if he proves to be worthy of the challenge.

He would play a bunch and he would make us a better team. The coaches would love for this to happen. They think he will be a big time player for us whenever he arrives in Norman.
I stick with my prediction he is the back up point guard next year and Jordan will become a better player with the added competition.

Really hope this happens.

I'm in love with this kid already! I would love to see him here next year and agree with some of the other posts that he plays and makes a big impact year one! Not sure what his percentages were this past season but he looks like he shoots the deep ball really well in the videos I've seen.

Here's what Eric Bossi has to say about Pritchard. I also read somewhere that he shoots right at 50% from three point range. For those who may not know, Bossi is one of the best recruiting analysts in the country.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound guard was named 2014 Oregon Class 6A State Player of the Year and averaged 18 points and 7.5 assists per game. He's ranked No. 38 in the country for his class and is the highest rated commitment of the Kruger era.

Payton can take defenders off the dribble as well as create his own shot. He checks all the marks in the new-age point guard box. He's a scoring point guard in an age where teams with anything less will struggle at the Division I level.

In fact, Bossi believes what Payton does best is score with basketball. "To me, Pritchard is the kind of guy who can play in any system and any people around him," Bossi said. "He's a proven winner. He's been tough competing against all the best players in the country. He should be able to step right in and make a big impact."

I know some of us were really hoping this kid would help us bolster the rest of that class, I know Ada mentioned him recruiting Joey Bunk? I believe that's the name of the big man.

Does Pritchard coming a year early change this much?
