Really remarkable what he did during the back half of conference play. He showed great character and leadership throughout this season.

The most remarkable thing he did was maintain a positive attitude all season. Carl Blair did this too (last season). It really says a lot about both guys.

Sam was a real trooper through what had to be a difficult time for him. He deserves the props!

Thanks for being there for the team, Sam! :clap

without his play we don't win a couple of those games, and we aren't even in some of the games we lost (@osu).

I just wish he had 1 season left because as much as he improved from last year to this year, I wonder how much more he would have improved with 1 season left. Kudos to him for the hard work it takes to improve his shot.

I just don't get all the Sam Grooms love. I'm ready for a point guard who knows how to defend the point and run the offense from the point. Grooms does well when attacking the basket. Aside from that, he's not good. He doesn't handle pressure well at all and spends too much time simply dribbling the ball around rather than distributing the ball to the players who are better scorers than him.

He did play well in a couple of games but he's not a point guard. He's a 6-foot swingman, which, I guess, is why he's a JUCO transfer. If he was 6'5", he'd have been really good b/c he'd be the guy attacking the basket, not counted on to run the offense or hit outside shots.

I think most of us are ready for better PG play, but I don't see anything wrong with acknowledging the positive contributions of an outgoing senior.

I certainly appreciate Sam's attitude, work ethic, and contributions to the first OU NCAA tourney team in 4 years. We can discuss his shortcomings in other threads.

Sam was a good Sooner and I admire the way he handled himself during his senior season.

However he was no as good a point guard as we needed to take us to that next level.
