Maybe BigTime can answer this? I watched the exhibition game, and it looks like he should be able to rebound a little and set picks, etc., but I couldn't tell much about his defense. Is he going to be able to come into games and guard Big12 caliber post men? With our only experienced big man being Fitz, I fear what happens when he is tired or in foul trouble? Can he hang with the Morris boys from KU defensively? I know the Puma is only 6'7''(maybe), but with his girth, maybe he can keep opposing post players away from the bucket? Any thoughts?

You pose some good questions, OTC.

I can only go by the limited times that I have seen Barry play, but in short, yes, I think he will be our "banger" this year on the defensive end. Coach Capel remarked after practice yesterday that he is playing the best post defense of any of the bigs at this time. He also called him our best screener.

What he lacks in speed he compensates with effort. I mean the guy is firery and really gets after it on both ends. He is a guy who really understands his role on this team and has embraced it.

People also need to remember that Barry actually has the second most D1 experience under his belt on the squad (behind Cade).

I know I'm a bit biased but I think the Big Puma will surprise quite a few folks this season in a good way. :)
