Coale: "Nic needs to have a presence. Sharane is our X-factor."

Coale: "Joanna (McFarland) is the player on our roster most suited for this type of game."

Coale: "The biggest difference (since Nov. 14 game vs. UCLA) is we now have an identity." #Sooners

Coale on UCLA: "They are very aggressive, very physical, as physical as any Big 12 team."

Coale: the 24 turnovers yesterday was uncharacteristic, the rebounding has been our Achilles heel.

Coale: "Joanna spoke eloquently when she said (rebounding) is a decision."

Hook: "...it was good our rebounding got exposed yesterday and we'll have it on our minds for tomorrow."

Hook: "We've been watching them on film and we got whipped on every offensive rebound."

McFarland: "(UCLA) was the second game of the season. We've grown a lot and they have too." #Sooners

Well Nicole won't have a presence except for not catching the ball. McFarland has turned into the best player on the team, yes she does it all. This will probably be the last game, hope not for sure. This team is average and will stay that way until we find a post player.

Options give it up, You hate Nicole. We know. Stop repeating yourself.

Last game they had 15 more shots than we did because of 18 more offensive rebounds. We stayed in the game by hitting 50% from the 3. I am not sure counting on hitting 50% again is good strategy but if it works it's OK with me. Seems rebounding is somewhat of a concern!

With UCLA's aggressive defense, I think it's safe to assume 50% FG efficiency will be out of the question. I'm sure the rebounding will improve over what it was is the first matchup.

Sherri's post game comments (after SDSt.) called attention to her constant efforts to get the team to rebound on both ends of the court and the fact that she and ther staff have been unsuccessful. We are a lousy rebounding team on both ends of the court. I dont have any confidence that this late in the season we will suddenly understand that it is critical.

J2d2, Was Sheri comments about the men's game because they played (SDST) the women played CMU if I remember correctly. LOL....:facepalm

This guy surely would NOT have a problem getting a job in the sports department at The Norman Transcript. His level of "fact checking" is on a par with theirs.

I don't think I would call a team that has made it to the round of 32 in the NCAA average. Many threw in the towel on this team after the injuries. So why not celebrate their success versus bashing them.

+1

And thanks to AustinTXSooner's research, we know that OU is one of only 5 teams that have made it to the round of 32 in each of the last 8 years. That's way better than average.

+2!

Don't post much on the women's board (it's not because I don't follow them), but I've got to add a +3 to OU81's post.

Glad to see you over here, scrybe...would love to have you participate often!

Yes, I meant CMU. Sometimes my Senior Moments lasts for days. Sherri was indeed talking about her team's consistent failure to rebound as coached. She dwelt on it.

I hate that Nicole hasn't shown how good she can be and I'm worried that she's running out of time to show it.

She's a junior now and we've seen glimpses of greatness when she is one of the few who can pizz off Britney Griner (without getting punched afterward) and her turn-and-shoot, when on (and yes, when she catches the ball) is unstoppable.

She's just running out of time and I worry that like Jaz, we won't see her best until the very end when it's too late to make a college career out of it.

Also, I'm 5'2". It saddens me when someone that is blessed with such height isn't able to take full advantage of that blessing :(

Badger, it requires much more than HEIGHT. Based on what I've seen of NG...she has improved and it appears she is doing about the best that she can given her small frame/structure (only so much physical presence that she will have...height does not equate to physical strength). Furthermore, the level which the women's game is now played requires physical strength and a mental toughness. It begins in the mind. Either you have IT or you don't. Everyone does not have that "IT" that is required to compete at the top level.
