Joe C. is a bright fella. He knows that JC has more holes in his roster than a torn fishnet. He also knows that JC is gonna have a helluva time recruiting until this fog and uncertainty has been lifted from the program. He further knows that this is prime recruiting time and recruits are slipping away. Yet, he has been eerily silent in support of Jeff.

JC is a bright fella too. He has been AWOL. I mean, it is like he is in a witness protection program. His bigtime recruiter just left a 180,000 dollar per year job to pursue opportunities - right and if so I am the Pope. The "O" man was fired by somebody.

Two of our prime juco recruits have dissed us - Carter and Poland. If Jeff gets no talent infusion he is doomed to a woefully bad year next year for sure. Two bad years in a row will likely doom Capel yet if he doesn't get significant talent in next years bad record has already been mailed in.

This has the scent of ending badly and abruptly before letter of intent signing day. I just don't have a good feel. Maybe I am reading too many tea leaves. The bailing recruits and vacum of silence have let my active mind wonder too much.

I sure hope I am wrong.....:dance005::mad::mad::mad::mad::(

What smoke...this isn't even national news. This is all local coverage and not really even being discussed nationally. If we would stop talking about it, it would probably go away for awhile. If ESPN isn't covering it, than who cares. We aren't even recruiting local kids which means kids in other states are probably not even aware of this.

Hell, If I wasn't reading this board, I wouldn't have a clue about Gallon and this whole ordeal. Who cares if Tramel is talking about this. We already got the top kid out of Oklahoma so that really doesn't hurt us at all.

Is ESPN talking about this story...NO, CBSSports talking about it...NO, is cnn sports illustrated talking about it...NO, is the Tulsa paper talking about it....WHO CARES

Yeah, because the recruits and players don't ever read the board. That's been proven.

the players have better things to do than read boards. They are out there playing ball, getting recruited...etc... they don't sit there and be like Indysooner just said that they should fire coach capel... give me a break.

Maybe the players that are at the school but not the recruits.

You are delusional if you think nonone knows or cares.

Well then find me a reliable paper, online source, etc...that does not belong in oklahoma that is covering this crap. and TMZ does not count. I'm talking ESPN, CBSSPORTS, etc...Something that a recruit would look at. JUST ONE.

Because to me, it looks like Oklahoma news people and fans are the ones that are making this smoke turn into a big ass fire.

He got us to a 2 seed last year and a 6 seed the year before and then he has a bad year and everyone is calling for his head...heck I would want out too.

The only reason we didn't make it to the Final 4 last year or even further is b/c the NCAA committee wanted a guarenteed Griffin v. Hansbrough matchup and screwed us in the process.

Just because the national media isn't reporting anything, doesn't mean it's not happening. That's burying your head in the sand.

No it just means rumors are just that...rumors. Because the Tulsa World just reported that Capel has no interest in interviewing for the Clemson job...wow, look what rumors get you.

OU fans are frustrated with Capel because next season looks like a repeat of the past year. OU's roster next season looks awful and tell me how OU doesn't finish in the bottom of the big 12 again. Capel has had two bad seasons and I don't see how he doesn't have another losing season.

You mean everything the national media isn't reporting is happening right now?

Being realistic, coming off a terrible season, a coach "resigned" (whether he was fired or not is speculation), we lost a couple of JUCO's and there "may" be an issue with a player taking a few thougsand doallars from a runner. Two months ago, more than half this board wanted Willis, Warren and TMG gone (wish granted), and Capel is hosting a recruit today and not in South Carolina interviewing for the Clemson job, oh, and a kick butt recruit just named us first while he was being interviewed.

1350, I am not trying to be arugmentative with you, however, I look at if differently. I am not much into what ESPN and other media outlets are covering. I'll give you that one. I am way concerned that something is up with all of the silence out of JC (both of them), seeing an assistant coach under investigation leaving a 180K per year job for other opportunities in this economy, losing two juco recruits that we were thought to be leading on, and the thought of not being able to get enough good players in here to have a respectable season next year.

I like Jeff Capel. I don't think he is the greatest coach in the NCAA nor do I think he is as bad as some are making him out to be. He may have simply got caught in a sheet storm this year, partially of his own making, and simply needs to a little time to pass so that he can regroup. Nevertheless, if there is not some public support soon for Capel by the other JC then I fear we might as well mail in next season as a "disaster" cause we won't have enough or good enough players to compete. A "disaster" is all but certain unless he pulls a rabbit foot out of the hat during the late signing period. JC, both of them, know this. Thus, the silence seems ominous.........

Some good, positive news would go a long ways right now........this is the most passion I have seen regarding OU basketball in eons............

Your not looking at a great conference next year. Your looking at pretty good to decent season for the big 12. Mizzou and Tech are the only 2 teams that should be better next year.

OU isn't even done recruiting...But if Gallon ends up staying, then right now we have a pretty decent core to start with.

I'm not ready to panic yet. I like the team we have at the moment and with just a few more players, it could be a decent year.

And personally I am glad that Capel is out there recruiting instead of answering questions from the tulsa world about rumors. We've got 3 solid recruits and there could be even more to come.

I wouldn't call Gallon a decent core. He has upside, lots of it, but he has to live up to it and make amends for taking money which he knew was wrong.

Basically we have Cade, and rule breaking Tiny and two shoplifters returning and some true freshman that are going to struggle simply because they are true freshman. So far Capel has only been able to coach guys with innate superb work ethic. Unless another Blake or Tisdale comes along then it will be Doom and Gloom for a while.

Well said. Great post.
I can't believe some people are still acting like the TMZ, the Oklahoma media and message boards are making this stuff up. Just look at all the dominoes that have fallen. It can't all just be made up rumors.

And if it is...don't blame us or TMG/Oklahoma media.....blame Joe C, Capel and/or OU for not saying anything to diffuse any of it. If Tiny Gallon isn't under investigation for taking $3,000 then say he's not. If it's all made up you could do that...couldn't you?

Coach Capel has the opportunity to prove his mettle. If he can bring in some productive, hard-nosed, determined recruits here late, and salvage a "decent" season next year, then he would prove a lot to many of us. I hope he succeeds, but the hill looks steep right now.

We need some good news on the recruiting front.
