Why in the world do these chicken teams - like BU and Texas - play such weak, weak, weak, weak schedules? BU is at 159 or so, and Texas at 210. You have to work hard to even find such weak opponents.

They are obviously terrified to play many reasonable opponents in the non-conference portion of the schedule. Absurd.

BU, of course, does it in most sports.

Part of the reason is likely the realization they will not always have the big-12 officials carrying them against out of conference opponents.

Is this a serious post? They are the two Big 12 teams that actually go out and play Top 10 teams, and multiple top 25 each year. No other Big 12 teams consistently plays top 25 opponents. Oklahoma occasionally does.

Know that of which you speak. OU's four strongest non-conference opponents are #20 Kentucky, BYU, Xaiver and California. Texas plays #2 UConn, #3 South Carolina, #11 Stanford and #17 Tennessee. Baylor's four strongest are #2 UConn, #9 UCLA, #17 Tennessee and #18 DePaul.

Generalizations will get you anywhere.

10 UConn vs OU
6 UConn vs Baylor

3 Duke vs OU
1 Duke vs Baylor

4 North Carolina vs OU
1 North Carolina vs Baylor

5 Georgia vs OU
1 Georgia vs Baylor

5 Ohio State vs OU
0 Ohio State vs Baylor

It tends to be like that if you look down the all-time list, except that Baylor has played Notre Dame more than has OU, maybe UCLA, although UCLA is rarely of consequence. Stanford should enable Texas and Baylor to catch up since I don't think they will be playing us anytime soon. I think Tennessee is six each.

Oh my, how you guys make me laugh. No need to post with your reading glasses still on the desk.

I was just sort of teasing based on the miserable RPI ranking of their opponents so far this year. No need to be so sensitive boys.

By the way, have you been watching the BU program having the wheels come off lately? Coach's wife twittering about how much the coaches hate BU and it's BOR. Fans completely abandoning any support of the coaches.

And isn't that coach (whose wife tweeted the meanness) the coach who claimed he did not know it was a violation of NCAA rules to scout opponents in person? Even I knew that. And with his decision to come disguised in Tulsa apparel, I am pretty sure he also knew the rule. Don't you?

All things considered It seems to me it is humorous to tease them just a bit.

Job well done, Sweetest!!! ;)

Um, Sweetest, you do know, of course, that the coach's wife you speak of is Art Briles' daughter? So she couldn't be at all biased in her disappointment with the BU administration, right? Of course not...
The football train wreck in
Waco is certainly worthy of critical comment-- I just think a little factual context is helpful..
Oh and the Baylor women beat #18 DePaul by 20 today in a Florida tourney...

I assume your numbers above reference the number of times UConn, Duke, UNC, Georgia, OSU and Notre Dame have played OU and Baylor.

I have just one question. How is that germane to difficulty of this year's non-conference schedule which is the only year we are presently playing?

Just think real hard, S. You'll figure it out.

Or even better, go back and check the realtimeRPI posted above. I know. Those pesky facts are hard to accept when they go against our personal biased ideas.

A day does make a difference in the RPI this early. Prior to today's games, the Big Twelve was:

#10 Oklahoma
#17 Oklahoma State
#22 Iowa State
#41 Texas Tech
#44 Baylor
#50 Kansas State
#78 West Virginia
#97 TCU
#201 Texas
#228 Kansas

Indeed, SOS can be a killer. Baylor is #90. Yes, there is a UConn at #2 and a UCLA at #25. But, there are teams ranked 55, 138, 256, 284, and 293.

Texas is at 215. They played #11 Mississippi State and #100 Stanford. But, they also played 256 and 347.

OU's SOS is #31, They have won all of their games against: #33, 67, 114, 117. Get ##132 tomorrow and #13 next week.

#8 Oklahoma ---fell one spot after losing to Kentucky
#25 Baylor
#30 Oklahoma State
#35 Kansas State----knocking off top twenty Auburn in Manhattan didn't help
#63 Texas Tech
#65 Iowa State
#74 West Virginia
#99 TCU
#203 Texas----the Tennessee game in Austin is critical
#284 Kansas

In the past, I might have felt that Texas and Baylor didn't schedule tough non-conference schedules. However, this year, Texas has a schedule that is brutal, and Baylor isn't too far behind.

The problem for Texas is that they scheduled too tough on one hand, and too easy on the other. They have no wins of any value, and can't beat the good ones they play.

Is Tennessee any good? They've lost AT Penn State and AT VA Tech. Those are worse teams than KY.

I don't know. Tennessee has two road losses to what appear to be good teams. But, Tennessee hasn't beaten anyone as good s South Dakota State yet. They appear to be beatable, especially on the road. This appears to be a must-win for Texas.

When does Texas play Tenn.? We play them on Sunday and then right after our game Texas takes on UCONN.
