How many scholarships does OU have left? Who are they looking at other than Julius Randle?

One (1) scholarship left for 2013.

************

13 = Maximum number of scholarships for men's basketball.
13 = OU players currently on Scholarship.

5 = 2012-13 Seniors on scholarship
1. Romero Osby
2. Andrew Fitzgerald
3. Steven Pledger
4. Sam Grooms
5. Casey Arent

4 = Scholarship players added in 2013-14 season (so far)

1. C.J. Cole ... 6-7, 220 Forward ... 2012 Invited Walk-on; 2013 Scholarship

*** PLUS *** 2013 Recruiting Class (so far)

2. Jordan Woodard ... 6-0, 175, PG; Edmond Memorial HS, Okla.
3. Dominique Elliott ... 6-8, 247, PF; JUCO-Trinity Valley CC (Athens, TX)
4. Keshaun Hamilton ... 6-10, 270, JUCO-Labette CC (Parsons, Kansas)

We need another guard if we don't get Randle.

Kind of how I feel, and a point I brought up a couple of weeks ago.

With M'Baye not looking like a 3, and Clark being Clark, it'd be nice to have somebody else to run out there with Woodard/Cousins/Hield/Hornbeak.

We need a true freshman center that has a little time to grow. We lack a true center with potential.

I'd hold it for a quality transfer if no top tier HS talent is available.

That might be the most difficult thing to find in college basketball today.

You don't need a really, really good center to win a lot of games. I'll take the guard.

1-Randle
2-Juco wing that can fill it up!
3-transfer with a lot of potential.

I think if Randle passes on us we will go after a wing. We seem to be heavy on post players for next season. I personally don't really want a transfer that has to sit out. We probably need a little more impact for next season right away.

Also wonder if we will see any attrition and guys leave. Always seems to be one each year that leaves. Usually out of 13 guys someone wants more playing time somewhere else.

I don't see anyone leaving. Clark and Neal will be seniors. M'Baye is starting, doesn't have a redshirt year and will be a senior. Hield, Hornbeak and Cousins are all playing a lot. Bennet, Cole and Spangler are redshirting.

The only guys I could see leaving, because of playing time would be Neal or Clark, which isn't likely because they will be seniors next year. I guess it depends what happens the rest of the year. I think the most likely scenario, if Kruger needs another scholarship for a prospect, is that Cole decides he can go another year as a walk on and take a scholarship the following year.

I sure hope Kruger would not do that. If he gave the kid his word, he should honor it.

I think you are misunderstanding me. I am not saying that Kruger would force anything on the kid, but from what I have read about Cole, I could see him volunteering for the good of the team.

I'm sure there will be some solid transfers that we could get our hands on. I wouldn't mine getting Josh Smith. He would be huge down low to go with M'Baye.

If it's the choice between Randle and Cole walking on one more year I would give Randle the scholarship in heartbeat.

"Coach, your program hasn't sniffed the post season in year and you continually finish at the bottom of the conference. Why did you decide to pass on Randle when he wanted to play for you?"
"I gave the walk-on my word, okay? If that's the difference between 8 wins and having another season without post play so be it."

There are academi scholarships available for players like cole.
