Agreed, as a player all we wanted was it to be consistent as possible, not an easy task given the different type of styles/strategies teams employ. If it is consistent from the get go, a player has the ability to adjust early on. It's difficult, because you have three separate people calling one game, interpretations can be different...that is why the officials work so hard on getting on the same page before the game.

Well said, campbest. Ask any coach what he expects from the officials, and 9 out of 10 will use the words "fair" and "consistent" in answering that question.

Bounce, I never implied that the officials in last night's game did a great job, just that there were no glaring deficiencies that I observed. I watched the game on television, which gives me the advantage of instant reply or the ability to use the rewind on our DVR if I want to get a closer look. To be perfectly honest, I didn't use the rewind button one time, because I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Did I see an occasional missed call? Sure. But that happens in every game.

so if they are constantly blowing calls on both ends that is good officiating? No its not. It is consistent but not good. I really cant see it any other way. If a football ref is constantly calling pass interference on both sides when it isn't PI, does that make it a good called game b/c he called it on both sides?
