When Jeremy Foley came to Norman to woo Stoops away? Everyone including ESPN was on it. Then when Stoops said no they tracked his plane to Denver and Shanahan or Kubiac...or both..said no. Then to a least a couple other states until Zook was finally hired? They were a laughing stock. What a public joke that was.

Let me just say Joe C is no Jeremy Foley. People can laugh all they want at our search. But all they can laugh at is what bloggers are guessing. All they can do is throw sh*t at a wall in hopes that it sticks.

I trust our A.D. on this one. He made a mistake once...I don't think he'll make another one.

And I am damn glad he's smart and cunning enough not to make this a flight tracker fiasco.

OU will get their coach. And he'll be a good one. And when both sides are damn good and ready to make the announcement we'll get the news.

FWIW I think our coach is still coaching. There's one thing I am quite sure of... I know as much about it as Dean, Hale and all the rest of these clowns and I live in KC...have not been to Norman in 6 months and know not a sole in coaching circles. So I'm gonna throw my guess at my wall. I'll let you know if it sticks or just stinks

All I remember about that catastrophe is ****ing Dean interrupting an NFL game with the breaking news that a Florida television station was reporting that Stoops had agreed in principle with Florida to become its next head coach. The next day, Stoops announced that he was staying at OU. I have respect for Dean because he won an NC here and deep down, I believe he has an affinity for OU even though he doesn't always show it. However, his actions on that day were total ****ing bull****. He proved that breaking the story was more important to him than getting the facts straight.

Well, had they done that?

Yeah, and I believe that evening, Boren flew back to Norman, cutting short a conference or some event he was attending out west. Can't remember all the details.
And then Stoops has a presser the next day and he sounded pissed when he announced he was staying. Almost like he had been guilted into staying.
I believe Deano had that one 100% correct.

I was a law student at OU at the time, and clerking for a law firm. My boss was Stoops next door neighbor. Florida was relaying messages to Stoops through my boss. Let me tell you, there's a lot more to the story than you've heard.

I am the biggest Deano basher around, but, I just don't understand how, if a Florida television station was reporting that Stoops was taking the Florida job, that somehow reflects poorly on Dean's reporting. That would absolutely be a news story.

go on...

Being just a law student, I wasn't privy to all the details. But, the reason Foley was calling my boss was so Stoops could honestly state to the media that he had not been contacted by UF. Without going into detail, UF was Stoops' dream job back then. He considered it. Castiglione convinced him to stay.

Then they won two national championships in three years. I'd love to be that kind of laughing stock.

Not a good comparison there dude.
