Texas will stay in a 10-member Big 12, according to a published report.

Orangebloods.com, which has broken a number of stories on conference realignment, is now reporting that Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds helped persuade University of Texas president Bill Powers to hold the Big 12 together.

An official announcement could come as early as today.

ESPN is reporting the exact opposite outcome. The departure of Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State to the Pac-10 is imminent, four sources within the Big 12 said Monday to ESPN.

Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe was able to obtain assurances that a TV deal could be reached paying each of the 10 remaining members of the Big 12 between $14 million and $17 million, according to Orangebloods.com.

Under Beebe's plan, schools would also be able to explore their own distribution platforms, including networks.

I hope this gets used in a journalism class somewhere.

And oh, the dilemma! Do we believe the hated Whorn Internet Rumor Network, or ESPN, who we all agree sucks and hates us!

ESPN is just reposting Orangbloods stuff -- but are about a day or two behind. :)

If Orangbloods is accurate I hope OU's regents don't hand over OU's balls to UT and hang out in the Big Texas conference. Move to the SEC or the Pac-10, keep the Red River Shootout ( existed long before the Big 8/SWC ) and watch Texas play in the equivalent of the WAC conference.
