RIP Billy Packer 82 years young

He called the 1988 Sooners the best team to not win a championship and placed them in his top 15 teams of all time.

I agree with him! One of the most bitter losses as an OU fan in my lifetime. Had we already beaten them 3 times that year?

If I could change the result of any sporting event in history, that's the one, and nothing even comes close.

I really enjoyed BP....for many years, he was "the guy" at the top of the college basketball analysts pyramid. I also heard him interviewed on the radio several times. He sounded like he never wanted to be there and couldn't wait until the interview was over. For as good as he was and as much insight and commentary he provided during ballgames, he didn't seem to have much of a personality off the court.....at least the times I heard him.

Me, too, and that includes a ton of football games involving both OU and the Dallas Cowboys. That was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I want to puke any time I hear about Danny and the Miracles.

Billy Packer was one of the voices of my youth and young adulthood. His time on the NCAA tournament went back to his days with NBC, before the tournament moved to CBS.

RIP.
