RIP Joe King

Sooner hoopster from the late 50s, Joe King, has passed away. He was a 1000 point scorer at OU before a distinguished career in the US Army. I got to know Joe well as a member of the Norman Rotary Club. Loved hearing his stories of going up against Wilt Chamberlain back in the day. Such a nice man. He will be missed.

Joe Used to say that he held Wilt to nine points in a game, true. He followed that with the fact that Wilt only played about ten minutes in the game as they were resting him. He followed that with a healthy chuckle.

Joe was a gentle and kind man who will be missed. This world could use more men like Joe.

Mr. Kind was before my time, but he sounds like a fine gentleman and a great Sooner. May he rest in peace and may those who loved him be comforted.
