Board has gone to ****. It’s basically landthieves now. Never seen so much grief over an ou hoops team that is ranked in the top 25. Never seen so many “fans” go after one of the best freshman to ever play college basketball. I get it, you are old and you like to watch teams that pass it 10 times minimum before they shoot it. I’m sure there is a re-run of Hoosiers on one of the movie channels for y’all to watch.

So Rest In Peace, ouhoops.com. It was a good ride. Thanks a lot to OUHoops, Ada and all the mods for making it a great site for this long. Seriously appreciate all the work y’all do. I will be logging off for a while, though. Boomer Sooner!

So wanting to see a team style of basketball makes one old?

Did you eat a tidepod before this post?

I’m with you, TINY, I don’t post much—read the board a lot. Love OU basketball. I’m disappointed over The last several weeks, but reading posts on here is depressing and aggravating.

I’ll come back at some point. But I’m done for now too.

I feel the only reason we are even still in the top 25 is because we have Trae Young. This team has showed so poorly as of late that not even the spectacle that is Trae Young will keep this team in the top 25 next week. I can't 100% put my finger on the problem. How a team can play so well to start the season, beat #3 WSU, #25 USC & #10 TCU on the road and look good doing it, to the last few weeks looking like they barely know how to play basketball.

It's easy to point to Trae Young and how Lon is allowing him to play and say that is the problem. But the reality is, the problem is that this team doesn't play fundamental defense. They could overcome the offensive struggles of Manek, Doolittle, McGusty, James (occasionally) if they played better defense. They get killed in crucial moments by giving up offensive rebounds because nobody blocks out and they don't keep track of shooters.

On the offensive side, it's not Trae's fault that nobody else can hit open jumpers or at times even dribble a basketball. Does Trae make some bad decisions and take some bad shots...yes. But it's amazing how many fewer bad decisions he was making to start the season when the players around him were playing well. If players are mad or frustrated because of Trae's usage rate then they need to step up and prove that they can make a difference. Playing poorly is no way to garner more usage.

If you were Lon and any player on the team other than Young or maybe James came to you and said "Coach, I don't feel like i'm getting the ball enough or Trae is taking too many shots." Would you say, "you know what you're right" or would you tell them to step it up and play better and earn it?

I feel the only reason we are even still in the top 25 is because we have Trae Young.

OU leads the nation in top 25 wins. That’s why they were ranked - and a top 4 seed. Young doesn’t hurt though.

According to Sagarin OU is 8-7 against the Top 50 and 6-3 against the Top 25.

Despite the losing streak, there's a lot of quality wins.

Are they a 4-seed? More like an 8 or 9.

Oh good lord....the melodrama. This board isn't that bad and certainly isn't comparable in any way, shape, or form to LandThieves. Fans are frustrated because of the losses and the team's shortcomings.......and looking for answers/discussions. It's probably best for people not to be on here if they can't handle opinions (sometimes harsh or not well stated) that differ from theirs. For others that have the "stomach" for this board and come across comments they don't like.....simply don't engage and move onto the next topic.

Committee called them a 4.

Probably drop a seed and a half with every loss now.

Tiny might exaggerate a little bit, but he is correct.

This board used to have a lot of posters who could look at wins and losses with some perspective. Not so much any more.

You would think a true fan would be more upset at the performance being displayed by the team rather than the opinions of said fans.

No kidding.... this is a fan opinion forum. Why would anyone be offended by the content of this forum?

You would think that a 'true fan' would realize that while he might be upset at performance, he doesn't have enough information or knowledge to judge players or coaches.

It has a couple more months unless someone takes over the bills...

It was only a matter of time.....the "true fan" argument. So a true fan can not make a reasonable conclusion, assumption, or inference because we as fans don't have enough information or knowledge of the situation?

We all have eyes. Some of us have experience at the collegiate level and even more of us have been around the game for decades. IMHO, I believe the above items at least qualify for a discussion of team facets (good or bad). Yes, there are a few crazy comments on here after some losses that I disagree with....but I'm not sure that makes someone less of a fan.....just more emotional in many cases. My point is that when we dictate who is a true fan and who isn't (without knowing their heart, background, etc.) based upon how they react to a loss, I'm not sure that is the best indicator....just my .02 cents.

I don't mind the quick shots if it is a good one but, we threw up too many quick bad shots at Texas Tech.

Maybe I am old school but I really enjoy watching a team like the UConn women. Constant player and ball movement and minimum one on one play. Sometimes I think the men's game has evolved into a form of gymnastics.

"True Fan" was in quotes because I don't believe in it. I do believe that most people who comment on message boards don't know nearly as much as they think they do.

You would think (oh this is fun) that perspective would point out that most people don't call a convent their home. You would think that watching sports is for entertainment purposes only. You would think that individuals, who ever they are, have enough sense to recognize when things are going well and when things are not, much like the original poster who has come to the realization that the board members are currently not performing at an acceptable level. You have never possessed the ability, and you never will possess the ability to be a part of a diverse group of people who each have their own unique understanding of life and think that they will all see things just as you do regardless of how firmly entrenched your belief system is.

You just illustrated what most people refer to as LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
