RIP ouhoops.com

I think the thread is a little melodramatic. I am a member at a board for all the teams I root for and this one is very tame in terms of posts/members that should be censored. As a matter of fact, I have seen VERY little of anything over the years here that I would term over the line.

I am not a particularly sensitive person on these matters so nothing really gets under my skin personally... but trying to be objective I also don't see much of anything that crosses the line or drags the board down to a level where someone wouldn't want to visit.

You will always have some folks that lean negative no matter what and almost seem to take pleasure when they are "right" and the team struggles. Might be some "told ya so" posts that are annoying and/or unnecessary. But for the most part, I think the members that lean negative either do it out of legitimacy and raise good points or it's just sort of their shtick and it doesn't hurt anyone.

I think because this is a college forum there is a sensitivity on criticizing individual players. In all seriousness, how do you convey that you think Lattin has been a major disappointment without being accused of "hating" on him? How do you express that you don't think Ty Lazenby should be on the floor at a Power 5 school without being considered to be "trashing" a kid? In other words how do you say "politely" that you think a guy stinks? If the answer is if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say it... well, then the whole concept of a message board is kind of out the door.

I like this board and appreciate those that moderate and maintain it. I'll be sorry to see it go. I think it is generally a very well reasoned place to talk OU hoops.

I want you to write my marriage proposal.

You probably don't. I proposed to my wife by the tennis courts on campus after pretending to have car trouble. Went to the back of the car to "check things out" and asked for her help. Then, dropped to a knee-- the ring was presented with a tiny stuffed Top Dawg. She said yes. But I've come to learn in the years that have followed that she does not like stuffed animals or "trinkets" of any kind at all. Not even a little bit. So...

I think we need to reverse this tradition.... seems like all the shows and movies are about women struggling to find a good man. Seems like they should be proposing to us.

Where did Bigtime go - seems like a lot of older posters have left.

BigTime is a lot busier than he was in his “Red Wig” days. He’s a medical doctor, or should be by now. He still drops by on occasion.

Other teams have gotten smarter and we don’t have enough overall basketball skill and coaching on this team to handle it. We are still a good team and have been in almost every game late. Our lack of offensive execution at crunch time has been a big problem. Our defense throughout much of the game is even a bigger problem. Bottom line, we are in more close games now where every possession matters and we (the team) don’t like it so much.

That is how I see it. I still support the team and still think we are very competitive. We just don’t really know how to do many of the little things that win games for you. If that is beyond what should be said on a message board then there is no need for a message board for anyone but the Stepford Wives.
