Rivals Top 150 (Lattin & Buford)

I thought Buford would be higher on the list. I see where Josh Cunningham is at #88 and still unsigned.

Both players are four stars on 247 Sports. Lattin is ranked #108 nationally, Buford is at #111.

While it's nice when our recruits and signees are ranked high in the national polls. How they're ranked with our coaches is far more important.

Also have to take into account that these sites unfairly shift the rankings based on where a kid signs. For example if say the #75 Ranked player signed with Kentucky, they would jump based on the perception that Kentucky wanted them. A kid choosing OU over some perceived bigger Basketball programs can fall just because he picked the"lessor" school in the eyes of the recruiting sight. Not fair but its the nature of these recruiting websites.

Not usually. Hollis Price, Blake Griffin, Ace Mcgee, Wayman, Mookie, Stacy King were all high ranked guys by the services.

Buddy was the highest of our 3 guards last year and was the best player. Cam was the highest ranked guy on the team and the best athlete.

It's not an exact science but for basketball it's pretty damn close.

Hollis was about the same as Buddy in the rankings. Nowhere near Blake. After the top 20 or so, a lot of it becomes a crapshoot.

Hollis was a top 50 guy. A little higher than Buddy but not as high as Blake who was top 25. I agree that from 25-100 it's a crap shoot whether they can develop into an all conference caliber player. Then from 100-150 a crap shot on if they can become a starter.

BTW how about them Mavs baker? Dirk owes some payback for that #1 seed loss to the Warriors. Hopefully he gets it from the Spurs.

Last night was a thing of beauty by the Mavs. Hope they can keep it up. The best thing is that they have played 2 solid games without Dirk having a big game. Here is to him dropping 3 straight monster games on the Spurs.

Man that would be great. So far it reminds me a lot of the second round series against the Spurs in 2006, almost uncannily. Let game one get away in SA and then dominated game 2 behind a big performance by Devin Harris. But the Spurs are obviously the better team, and it's still an uphill battle. If the Mavs can get a win on Saturday, I might start believing.

(thread hijack) it really could go either way. Mavs hang tough in Dallas, or Spurs roar back like they did last year against Golden State. Narrowly win Game 1 after GW blows a big lead and GW blows them out in Game 2, only to have SA run the table.

That is not my memory. My memory was that Hollis was a top 100 guy. I remember arguing about it with OUBud on OUhomer's site

Thought Buford was around 60 last time I checked. No?

Me too. Someone posted something showing him significantly higher ranked than Lattin. I really don't worry about those rankings too much. Obviously I would love to see OU land guys in the top 25 but anyone in the top 150 is very good.

I just noticed we have a commitment from a Bola Alade, a shooting guard. But he is not signed. Anyone know whats going on with him.

Buford was a little banged up this year. I think thats part of the reason for the drop in rankings...
