Rotnei Clark

Back to back finals appearances denver! Cmon that is impressive not just a really good season.

I didn't remember Butler making it that far both years. For some reason I thought they only made it to the great 8 the second season which is really good in my opinion. I have a very clear memory of them playing Duke. I wonder what I was doing in 2011 that I don't remember the tournament. It is probably based on OU not being good.

I agree back to back finals is better than a really good season. I would call it two magical seasons but I still think he should have left Butler. He could make more money somewhere else and will probably never be worth as much as he is now/then.

I did not mean to take anything from Brad Stevens. In some respects you have to admire his loyalty. I just hope it doesn't cost him because I hate to see the guy with values and morals lose out in the long run.

I'm glad you had forgotten they made it to the finals, your expectations for a great season were scaring me. I think he's a great coach especially in a tournament format. I wanted Joe C. to get him here, I'm obviously very pleased with Kruger though!

WT, you missed my point completely. Pledger has never had the defensive attention that Rotnei got at Arky!!! Not even close. All the teams in the SE conf will tell you that your gameplan had to be to stop him. He's not good enough to carry a team, but he's easily more than Bird! And I really like our guy, just wish we had em both. Wouldn't be the most athletic backcourt in the country, but would be hard to guard and fun to watch!!

So who exactly were teams gearing to stop at OU, if not Pledger, the last two years? Cam Clark? Cade Davis? Sam Grooms? Carl Blair?

Texas tech played a box and 1 for gods sakes on Pledger, and Frank Martin (formly of KSU)said at the half in game two when asked (how do you plan on stopping Pledger): FM said: Pledger is at the top of our scouting report, its obvious that Will Spradly wasnt paying attention...Rontni Clark left Arky because of BJ Young, potentially a 1st round draft pick at the shooting guard spot

Rotnei Carke left because of the coaching change.

All I know was that when rotnei came off a screen at Arky, half the other team would hedge out to make sure he didn't get even a decent look. I have never seen teams run around chasing pledge like their hair was on fire!! Sure, they know he can shoot and they wanna limit his looks, but you obviously didn't watch UA play the last 3 years. If you had, you'd agree it was different than what Steven sees. All I'm sayin is I think we could've made room for both of em in the lineup. I'm not knocking pledge, just saying u always find a spot for a truly big time knock-down shooter. Even if he's a little under sized!!

And yeah, the best player on a team doesn't leave because of one recruit!!! That's funny!!

For some reason, this thread made me think of that Rontei Clark fan that posted here a few times. Can't even remember his screen name now lol.

You can paint me a Rotnei fan. I have no connection to him, but one of my favorite kids to watch play ever in this state. I don't get the problem some of you guys have with him.

I wasn't meaning anything negative. And nothing wrong with being a Rotnei Clark fan; he's a heck of an offensive player. I haven't watched him enough to say how good he is defensively, but he can light it up offensively.

Clark is such a double edged sword. He hit that huge buzzer beater but was 7/21 and 4/14 from downtown against Marquette.

No doubt...but dude hit the one shot that meant the most

Did you see the shot? He sort of threw it more than shot it. It was not so much a great shot by a great shooter, but rather a Hail Mary.

He is fun to watch but is the perfect example of a guy who single handily win you games but also lose some for you as well.

Yeah... it's fun when shots like that go in... but let's not act like it wasn't about 95% pure luck. He literally just heaved the ball at the basket as he jumped sideways.

I agree, if im the coach up alittle upset with his decision to take that shot. Yes it went in, but it was all luck.

He had plenty of time to drive to the basket, instead of kept trying to dribble the ball on his own. He should have gave the ball up to move the ball up the floor faster. Then to top it off he dribbles nearly out of bounds and heaves the ball up with a good second still on the clock. He had plenty of time to get a better shot.

Yea, and let's not act like he was having this great game or something either. Dude was 7-21 from the floor and 4-14 from 3 (and one of those was that shot)...

Agreed.

That shot sort of reminded me of Byron Eaton's turn-around heave from about 30 feet in that infamous 3OT game against Texas when Durant was there.

Was it awesome? Sure.

Was it 100% luck? Absolutely.
