The one that immediately comes to mind is to diminish the results on the final score of early season games - say the first 7 (you pick a number). Of course that is the result of OU's experience this year. What else do you recommend?

Not an RPI adjustment, but a suggested change offered for consideration. Make the conference champion from each P5 conference a Top-8 national seed. A P5 conference championship should be highly valued. It seems to me that the champion of the B10 and B12 earned it, regardless of some subjective "eye test." This still leaves 3 spots for other worthy teams to be projected hosts of a super-regional.

Of course this presents another issue. Do you promote the regular season conference champion or tournament champion? Then, who decides? Does each conference make their own rules for the "conference champion qualifier" or does the NCAA dictate?

I prefer the regular season champion .. the team that competed at a high level all season long.

Look at B12 baseball today. OSU was the #8 seed in the conference based on a mediocre season, yet the Cowboys won the B12 tournament. Should a team with a 8-14 (.363) losing conference record get a Top-8 national seed? No, in my opinion. The regular season champ is more worthy, IMHO.

Many ideas and many justifications. I perfer a system that mitigates all subjectivity. I find it is the human element that is at the root of most mistakes.

The problem with that theory Spock is that it was the human element that created the formula. I saw an example using the formula how at team could improve their ranking by beating a 250 team over beating a Top 30 team. Think about it - the formula has a lot of flaws. If on top of the formula, you add an element with a bunch of unqualified people on the committee then you get a mess. Of course, what we don't know is ESPN's influence on the committee - they sure got some nice matchups in the Supers and Regionals. I have a feeling that changes are coming. Personally, I am for getting rid of the bonus points and adding home and road adjustments to match the baseball RPI. I know that favors OU because they have won their last 27 road games.

One thing that held OU back this year was injuries - Romero's thumb injury in Feb/Mar - she is still putting the brace on when she runs the bases, Knighton's knee in Feb/Mar, and Wodach with the broken knuckle in March/April. Is that considered - OU is a different team with those three at full speed and it shows in recent play.
