The jury may still be out on Spangler, but that is not the case with Fields:
2010-11 | FRESHMAN SEASON
Amric Fields had an impressive true freshman season for TCU in his first year on campus ... was one of only three Frogs who played in all 33 games ... started nine contests, including eight of the final 14 games ... led TCU in blocked shots (19), ranked No. 5 in points (225), rebounds (94) and minutes played (645) and was No. 7 in steals (18) ... ranked No. 2 among all Mountain West Conference freshmen in scoring and tied for fifth in rebounding ... scored eight or more points 13 times with seven double-digit outings ... led the Frogs in points three times ... scored the most points for a freshman in a TCU season opener (18) since Jeff Jacobs totaled 19 against Drexel on Dec. 3, 1993 ... scored a season-high 26 points to lead the Frogs during a Dec. 28 win over Chicago State ... hit a career-high three shots from 3-point range during the victory ... recorded his MWC scoring high of 19 points Jan. 15 at Colorado State ... had two blocked shots three times.
The knock on losing Spangler to the Zags is that he was a local kid who would have jumped at the opportunity to go to OU. Capel slow-played him because he thought he was going to make "the big haul" with Jones and a couple of other high-profile recruits. Can't recall their names now, maybe I blocked the names subconsiously to keep my sanity. :facepalm
