Sad news on Sybarite.

We disagreed more than we agreed but I respected both him and his opinion(which he was never shy about expressing).

That is sad news. I didn't like him even a little bit, as everyone knows. But I did enjoy how he created comments from other readers and how he stuck to his guns and was faithful, no matter what, to Sherri and the program.

He was a master of facts, figures and anecdotes to support is unwavering support.

He made interesting debates and didn't mind being the loyal opposition in the face of crumbling program.

Rest in peace, Syb. And please let us know what it's like watching OUWBB alongside the good Lord.

I had a really bad feeling about this. I'm so sorry to hear about his passing. I'm glad to hear that we both got our PhDs at OU. I'm not religious, but RIP Syb.

Sending prayers to his family. I didn’t know him at all but all of us here at the same thing in common. OU Sports. The only thing to do in his memory that I can think of is this.
BOOMER

Prayers for his family. Syb made for interesting team talk without getting personal. The board will miss his input.

Yeah, while I didn't agree with him on much of anything about OU basketball, I too will pass prayers for his family.

Sorry to hear this. I never met Syb in person, but when this board first started, he was far more active on the Men's Hoops board. He often would private message me, and we had very extensive discussions about racism as it pertained to college athletics, and the challenges of African American athletes, etc. He knew I had recently lost my son to a violent murder, and he would often discuss non basketball social issues, and some of the history of race relations in America. His historical information was always impressive.

I didn't always agree with him on everything, but always respected his well educated, and classy discussion habits. I know his opinions weren't popular on this board, but he always posted without name calling and attacking. He loved OU, and that's what I will remember about him....

Sad news, indeed! Syb has been a fixture on this website since it was launched in 2008. I didn’t always agree with him, but I appreciated his enthusiastic and classy response to a variety of topics.

RIP, Syb!

RIP, Syb!

There are some people on the men's and women's board who could benefit from his example with regard to debate style.

Some folks on this board liked to call Sybarite a sunshine pumper because of his support for Sherri and the women's program.

In reality, he was no pumper – just unapologetic in his appreciation for the coach who brought the OU program back from the brink of oblivion.

Syb will be missed. He was unequivocally Sherri's top supporter online. He would debate ferociously which was great. RIP!!!

Had some nice discussions with Syb on PM's over the years. Didn't always agree but enjoyed spirited debates with him. Prayers to the family, he will be missed on the board. RIP Syb.

Sad to see a Sooner poster go.

I understand he was a houseboy at the Pi Phi house during his undergrad days

Just saw the sad news about Sybarite. I always admired his tenacity, and civilized discourse, even when I didn't agree with his viewpoints.

RIP, Syb.
