Here is your line up. Phone call gate would not have kept us out of post season play. This doesn't count other talent Sampson would have added to the fold. Maybe Rontie Clarke off the bench raining 3's.

Damion James - 3
Scottie Reynolds - QB
Blake Griffin - Center/Superman
Taylor Griffin - 4
Tony Crocker - 2

Son of a buck what a starting lineup. Kelvin really left Capel a lifetime opportunity.

i cant even tell you HOW many times ive had this converstation. it hurts my heart to talk about it.

If you're going to use Blake Griffin's name, you may as well throw in the likes of Kevin Durant and Michael Beasley. BG has already stated over and over again that he had NO INTEREST in Oklahoma if Kelvin Sampson was the head coach. NONE...NADA...but nothing wrong with dreaming, I guess.
 
Isn't there a quote somewhere in which Blake said that he wasn't interested in OU until Sampson left? Trust me, I hate Capel as much as the next guy, but I don't think we would have landed Blake if not for him. I think Taylor and the Griffin parents hated Sampson.

All that being said, Damion James and Scottie Reynolds ended up being four year players. As much as I love Blake, I would have preferred to have four years with both those guys than just two with Blake.

Yep, if only Sampson had not cheated. If he had stayed and convinced Blake to come it would have been great. If, on the other hand, he had just decided to move on to Indiana without the NCAA overhang he and Capel might have been able to convince those guys to hang with OU. There are a lot of "could have beens" in life. It is not good to dwell on them.

I don't hate Kelvin for what he did to our program. But I do wish it had not happened.

Capel might have been able to sell himself and the program to James and Reynolds on his own if not for the NCAA overhang caused by Kelvin. We still have that overhang right now. I wish the NCAA would either hammer us or say we are clear. It is tough for Capel to operate right now and it will be tough on his replacement too if Joe C goes that route. Heck, it will be tough for Joe C to get a good replacement with the overhang. Capel had a hard time getting assistants to come.

It is hard for me to imagine that the NCAA really needs any more information than they have or will be able to get any more. So just reach a verdict already. The dirty commie creeps actually enjoy turning schools on a spit so they can show how much power they have.

I have never seen/heard Blake say that. I have seen a lot of speculation that he would not have gone to OU. Ultimately, none of us know what would have happened and we will never will.

That's the stupidest ****ing logic I've ever heard. If a person is pathetic for hating a person he doesn't know personally, then a ton of Americans are pathetic for hating Osama bin Laden. I'm not comparing Capel to a terrorist. I'm just pointing out how logically flawed it is to claim that people are pathetic for hating people they don't know.

Kelvin always had good but never GREAT teams.


I really admired what he did as a coach until the cheating came out...and I lost a LOT of respect for him then...especially when he had the EXACT same problems at IU. How do you do that TWICE?????

Kelvin had two GREAT teams. Our 2002 and 2003 squads were exceptional basketball teams.

neither.



I think Sampson did a great job at OU.....I'm just saying I don't think he would have won the title with that group.
