Do coach contracts normally have NCAA sanction language? I certainly hope we had a clause in OU's former coach's contract.

Yes, all coaching contracts contain a "for cause" termination if NCAA rules are violated.

Somebody posted earlier, maybe Sam, that Capel won't be named in the NCAA investigation.

I'm not sure where your going with this unless you are saying we shouldn't pay him a severance. I'm sure he and Joe have already discussed just this and if he's named I'm sure he won't get as much if anything.

Capel's a big boy, so he understands the ramifications if he is mentioned in the investigation.

Capel was the head coach!!he is responsible for all & everything that happens to the program. It is up to the National Commies Against Athletes to decide someones fate!!:facepalm

Capel has already received his buyout $$

Did he tell you this?

I doubt very seriously if Capel has received his buyout. The University has to wait for word from the NCAA that Capel is not involved since that could mean any payment to him is null and void. That is how contracts work.

And you would be wrong, yet again. Several local media sources have reported for a fact that Capel has been paid his buyout in full.

Post a link.

No way he has already received his money. These things take time anyway. He may have received a portion of it, like a paycheck or 2, but I can't believe OU would pay him the money before the investigation is complete.

Joe is much smarter than that. Sure, he made a huge mistake hiring Capel, but he's fiscally intelligent.

Its been on the radio multiple times from blevins, trammel and traber. So if you want to disagree with them, that's your choice. Wouldn't be the first time you would be wrong.

So, was it reported by several local media sources or just from Blevins, Tramel, and Graver (IDK who this is)?

Funny...I asked Tramel about it in email and he told me Capel had not received it yet because the investigation wasn't finished.

Clown.

I almost fell off my chair. This coming from an idiot poster who is wrong on nearly every single thread, then when everyone calls him out on it, he disappears for two or three days (just like he did when OU won games this season).

Classic.

So, you lost the argument because you didn't have any clue about what you were typing, so now you come after me.

Again, post a link that proves the money has been paid or just admit you were wrong.

BTW -- I never disappeared for 2 or 3 days until Kruger was hired. Ask anybody here, when the team won, I gave kudos. When they lost I posted my opinion about how crappy we were coached. My opinions may be wrong, but they are just that...opinions.

Btw BOB, if you want to disagree with those who have reported it, then that's fine. It's not my information, I couldn't care less. Calling me a clown and telling me to take a business law course for posting something I heard from those who would probably know is as stupid as most of your opinions.

He wasn't fired for cause. Try again.

A clause in Capel's contract allows the university to avoid a buyout payment if he was fired for cause, but Castiglione said that's "not something that we anticipate being an issue."

Read and re-read the part I bolded. They don't anticipate it being an issue, but they have no clue until the investigation is complete. That's why he hasn't been paid.

I'm wrong and I lost an argument because I posted something that was discussed on the radio? You're a joke.
