Can anyone explain why every 2nd half we make about 5 field goals? Three games against good teams, 3 halftime leads blown because of abysmal offense. It's hard to watch frankly. James was terrible today man.

I just see a long year ahead for this team. Might struggle to 20 wins with the closing ability of this team.

Also sad that OKC is now a new home for WSU fans who outnumbered OU :facepalm

Very hard to watch. At this point 20 wins is probably going to be tough to come by.

Someone please tell me why Strong continues to get minutes - way too much JUCO in that kid for my liking.

Did McGusty play?

& Woodard wasn't much better than James, he just hit a lot of free throws.. Missed a ton of shots.. Didn't see Freeman much in the 2nd half either..

If the team doesn't improve it might be a long season, but why would you assume we won't improve? I'd say we improved today over the No. Iowa and Wisconsin games. We were outscored by five points in the second half and lost by three. Disappointing for sure, but hardly a disaster. Entering this game, plenty of posters here seemed to be expecting a double-digit defeat.

And a two-point margin at halftime barely qualifies as a lead, much less as a blown one.

But, but, most athletic team Kruger has had! I knew this season would be horrid, so I tempered my expectations. But some on here were thinking they could be top 4 in the Big 12. They may not be top 8 at fhe end of this atrocity of a season.

Relax - we'll get better. But man the last couples games against Wiscy and today were just really, really hard to stay positive through in the 2nd halves which you knew was coming.

Horrid??? Dramatic much??? SMH!

Need to learn how to win. Grow some hair on your nuts.

PS to Lon - the rotation today, is not the answer.

6 to 8 was my expectation

Too many players who contribute to part of the game of basketball but not to all aspects.

Nah it's not gonna be like that. Just a struggle for awhile until someone other than Jordan can make shots in 2nd half.

I think we will noticeably improve as the season progresses. But we may not see the results in the W/L column because the Big 12 is absolutely brutal this year. So I'm not going to lose my mind over the loss today.....we don't appear to be an NCAA tournament team anyway.

And I expected us to lose by 8-10 today simply because I thought it was a bad matchup for us. But the guys fought till the end and with a break here or there, maybe they might have pulled it out.

You're being too tough on CJ. The only thing he didn't do was shoot the ball well from the perimeter. When the shots weren't falling he started to drive inside, which allowed him to score 8 of his 15 points from the free throw line. He also added 6 rebounds, 2 steals and a block. Except for his poor shooting percentage from the perimeter, I fail to see why you think he had such a horrible game?

By the way, you don't bench a player who is averaging 62% for the season from behind the arc because he's having an off night.

1. The defense isn't near where it needs to be. We had too many plays where WSU got an open shot because someone lost track of their defensive assignment. Better defense would also produce more possible easy baskets.

2. No matter how athletic a team is, they have to learn to play together as a team.

3. Confidence - our young haven't yet developed confidence in themselves or their teammates.

The only solution to all of these problems is time and practice. There may have been some people predicting overly optimistic outcomes for this year, but most people said they will be better by the end of the year than most people think - and they can still do that if they work hard.

He did foul out of the game (and it wan't just missed perimeter shots).

Yes, in the final few seconds. Is fouling out a bad thing?

There is no question that CJ had his worst game of the season from the perimeter. I said on the game thread that he was trying too hard to force the action, which led to some bad shots. But if I wanted to single someone out, I could name at least two or three players who deserved it more.
