This will be pinned on an assistant coach and nothing will happen to ol' Billy Toupee.
LOL!!!
Not only did he know, he’s telling them in order for adidas to continue the exclusive contract with KU, to pay players to come to KU.
Bill Self is calling the shots, telling adidas to buy him players.
If the NCAA doesn’t throw the book at KU and self, they have no right to ever say anything to anyone ever again.
Let's keep in mind that nothing really happened to us when it became apparent that Tiny Gallon's family financially benefitted from coming to OU. However, the only reason we got a slap-on-the-wrist (since we were still technically on probation for Kelvin's texts) was because of the hiring of Lon Kruger. Since all parties involved with Gallon were gone from the program, this should not be viewed as an apples-apples comparison when dealing with Bill Self. That said, I do remember a lot of college hoops fans posting their displeasure with OU getting off so easy.
I used to work closely with a guy who played major D-I basketball on scholarship. After the Gallon situation became public, I asked him what the chances were that a player or his family was getting paid money and the head coach knew nothing about it. His reply was: "Less than 1%". If my buddy is even close on his percentage, then we have a rather high corruption rate in college hoops, if not all college sports.
Good points. I guess I don't understand why so many people seem to think that the NCAA is out to get our basketball program. It's not like we ever were banned from the postseason or anything close to it.
It's the biggest problem I have with OU fans. They are worse on the football side. EVERYBODY hates OU football, regardless of what the actual facts suggest. Giant chip on our shoulders. I'll never get it.
And I don't give a flip about KU. If we want to put them in their place, that starts on the court.
How can the NCAA not hit every team connected with this.
It's also well known in college hoops that entire families get moved to Lawrence, Durham and Tuscon when their basketball stars go to college. The coach that told me this said they had tried to figure out how there is anyway this can be done legally with the NCAA. They couldn't figure it out but maybe those three schools are just smarter than the rest.
Adidas isn't the first business to send players to KU. Their football ticket scandal was 100% a deal for ticket brokers who also ran AAU teams around the country. They would make money and then send the kids to KU.

The money for moving/living expenses is often provided by an agent/shoe company rep for future representation.
Michael Beasley did this at K-State, his mother moved to Manhattan the year he played. She had no job (she may be able to afford it but I doubt it). The school doesn't have any "knowledge" of it but they know it happens.
Former Duke players Chris Duhon's mother moved to Durham and got a job as a cleaning lady making $100,000 per year for a drug company.
It's a sham and always has been.
BYU gonna get probation for $12000 given to players. Meanwhile, KU buying players on the open market for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
