Sell me on "low major" graduate transfers

He doesn’t even have a high school recruiting profile for any of the major websites. I won’t believe he had a single D1 offer until someone provides some type of proof.

From NewsOK:

The next chapter of Ty’s career will be at the junior-college level at Northern Oklahoma College of Enid. He turned down some out-of-state Division I opportunities, because his mother is battling cancer and he wants to be close to home.

“I want to be able to come home if there’s an emergency or anything,” he said. “I want to go D-I eventually, so hopefully I can make it work.”

I have no doubt he had D1 opportunities. I highly doubt that they were full rides, though.

why? what has he done to incur peoples' wrath? I swear I dont understand OU fans.

He's not OU good and it was and is obvious, I'd rather them save the ship on someone who could contribute instead of filling space for 2 years.

Idk but I'd be shocked if he didn't have some full rides, there are some really weak D1's where I believe he could've started 2-4 years.

Lazenby might not be a superstar, but I liked some of the little things he did when he got in the game last season. They didn’t necessarily show up in the box score, but he’s scrappy.

Lazenby really needs to be somewhere like ORU, Western Illinois, UMKC, or somewhere like that.

before this turned into the Ty Laz bashing / defending post, the original premise was sell me on the "low major" grad transfers.

I think going after low-major guards is great. The biggest difference I see at the D1 vs. D2 or even NAIA level is the athlete level in the post. I have watched a lot of good "lower" D1 guards come into the LNC and play well.

There are a lot more 6-2 guys who can play than 6-9 guys. It's just math.

Are Reynolds and now Caxlite (yea) the right answers? Who knows, but for one-year of eligibility and keeping those scholarships open for next year they are fantastic gets.

I'm just amazed at the complete optimistic view. Sure it's better than Shep being the 1..but as far as making this team very good...we'll see. I guess for a 1 yr commitment it's better than not.

I'm in the wait and see mode...til next March! lol
