Shaina

While Shaina looks to be a defensive stopper - I'm not sure what her best role on offense is- she's not a shooter but more of a slasher and finishes around rim. Not enough assist yet to be my oh and watching her with team Canada she seems more suited at off guard that where she is playing primarily. . She will bring a lot to the table defensively. My fave player today is Alyssa Jerome Stanford got a nice forward who works hard around the rim and can take you off the dribble. We need that!

Canada beat Latvia, 74-70, to take Group C, 3-0. Konig was 10-15 from three, scoring 32. Shaina had 15, and Amihere had 14. There is 61 of Canada's 74.

Shaina did not play today in a blowout of Mexico after starting all three previous games. Every other member of team Canada did play. Hope she hasn't had a serious injury.

Brown only shoots about 35% from the field, as an interior player. Amihere is at about 53%, and Shaina is at 45%. Shaina is five of ten in each of the last two games. She seems to rebound well for a guard, averaging 5.0. Wonder about Bongomin?

On a post somewhere I indicated that I wasn't that impressed with Amihere but having watched a few more games I am converted. Like her athleticism. Needs to add muscle but has time to do that.

As for Shaina, love her penetrations but it became harder for her as the competition toughened up. Needs to develop her mid and long range game but seems to have some feel for shots. Will depend how hard she is willing to work. Thought she should have been the point for Canada. The point they used most of the time took forever to get in position and rarely found someone open for a good shot. Shaina has good court vision and could play point with a better offensive game.
