Short but nice article about Reynolds and Calixte

From Eric Bailey: Grad transfer Aaron Calixte looking forward to Bedlam introduction

NORMAN — Oklahoma’s Aaron Calixte will be introduced to Bedlam basketball Saturday afternoon.

The graduate transfer from Maine already understands this rivalry is a much different animal than his former team’s annual dealings with New Hampshire.

“It was a big rivalry but it’s nothing like Bedlam and Oklahoma State here,” Calixte said Friday.

No. 23 OU will host Oklahoma State in the Big 12 contest. Tip-off is 1 p.m. at Lloyd Noble Center.

How has Calixte been introduced to this game?

“I just hear everyone say they hate Oklahoma State and they don’t like anything about them at all,” Calixte said. “Just in hearing that, I realize how important that it is.”

Self (and Kruger) must not understand basketball or defense very well, because, as was posted on this very board in the summer and early fall, the advanced stats show that both our grad transfers were subpar defenders against weak competition at their old schools! :facepalm

Joking aside, I was fortunate to have great seats in Lawrence, and the pressure that these guys, RO, and JB put on the ball is hard to miss up close. It isn't always designed to turn you over, but, as Self points out, it definitely makes it uncomfortable for teams to initiate offense and run sets.

On another note, having seats that close highlights one major flaw with the LNC -- even the best seats there are too far from the court. In Allen Fieldhouse, the sixth row put me about 10-15 feet from the sideline. In Norman, there is too much wasted space courtside, except on the east side.

I’ve said it 100x give me a grad transfer like Reynolds every single year!

I'd sign on in a heartbeat for a second year with both of these guys.
