Shout out to everyone on the board.... pre-2016 season

Was thinking about the passing of Sillisooner, and got me thinking about how long a lot of us have been posting and conversing on these forums....

Man, that was a long time ago. Some of us have been talking about basketball on the James Hale board or this board since when, 2003-ish? Earlier? I think I first started doing it in 2002 or 2003.

Good group... looking forward to another season.

I guess since 98 or 99 for me, going back to boomersooner.net -- some others have been around even longer than that. I keep meaning to get a life and find a hobby other than arguing about basketball on the internet, but I keep forgetting. Maybe one of these days.

Since 2001 for me, starting with the Insider board and on this board since it was launched in October, 2008. That's a long time and a lot of posts, to be sure.

The posters you named plus dozens of others who still come here regularly have been like family to me in some ways. I won't attempt to name them for fear that I might leave someone out and hurt their feelings. The passing of Sillisooner, and Fatty4KSU two to three years ago, has been like losing members of the OUHoops family. I'm saddened by it in a way that is hard for me to explain.

A long, long time. I started posting on Hale's board in 2000 or 2001. Certainly at some point my freshman year at OU. Heck, I even discussed Denver neighborhoods with abd when it looked like my wife and I might get transferred up there. That was a LONG time ago.

I also used to post on the secret OU hoops message board. But that was years ago.

Where it's now, I don't know.

Yea, I remember that. I graduated from high school in 2002 in Oklahoma, and was going to college in Denver in 2004... I have moved back to Oklahoma since then.

I was a regular poster on the OU Homer board ...... that was the "secret" basketball board. Also, been a member of Hale's board from the beginning as it morphed thru several names. Remember when James was convicted of tax evasion in the late-80's? He and his then-wife served jail time so he had a sabatical from the boards and sports talk shows.

Also, remember when Al Eshbach was a sports writer for the Oklahoma Journal? That was the only newspaper that ever had any recruiting information about OU basketball. He and Dave Bliss we're buddies .... probably still are, so he got lots of inside information. He got into radio later and then the Journal went under. He was actually pretty good on radio when he started but he's gone downhill.

I don't post a whole lot, but have been around a while and started with Hale's board. So glad this board is available. I can't stand anything JH so this was a nice place to get away to. I especially like it because it gets away from football as well. I'm a die hard fan of both, but it's nice to go to a board that is solely devoted to OU hoops! Boomer!

Sports message boards were just kind of getting started back then. I can't remember what the first OU bball dedicated site was (or forum within a site), but I think I was posting on something for just OU bball probably as far back as 1998 or so?

Was part of one of the pre-OUHoops boards (must have been ouinsider) since back in Hollis' days. I remember the traffic on that board eventually came to almost a crawl. Then, I got a PM from AdaSooner, who invited me to the new board (OUHoops). It remains my favorite, by far, for Sooners basketball discussion. Lots of good, knowledgeable OU basketball fans.

Hale had the Scout board as far back as at least '01, I think.
