Smart the FLOPPER, WOW....

Smart has done something that only 2 other players have done in Big 12 history. He is also 1 of only 4 Big 12 POY winners from OSU. He has done it the right way on and off the court. He will be loved and remember for years to come by OSU fans. His legacy will be just fine no matter what happens in the tournament.

Oh, 19, my bad. So Kruger or his players left zero legacy at the 3 schools he's coached at since then while he was getting bounced in the first and 2nd round 7 out of 8 times (1 Sweet 16) while he added to his overall losing NCAA record. I'm just trying to get all this straight. I figured he would have left a legacy at some point since Forrest Gump was released since I do think he's a good coach but since Elite 8s are apparently the measuring stick I've been wrong and he's been worthless for two decades.

Well, firstly, it would be alot more fun if you OSU guys could keep from drifting off track with your arguements. The point is that, if a one and done comes through any program and the team doesn't do any better than 3rd in conference play and can not win any more than a couple of games in the tourney, then that player didn't leave any great mark on the program.

A four year player from any program could leave a body of work that would and could be considered a significant impact on the program. The standard has to be higher for the one and dones. The expectation is higher. If you cann't win big with them, they are not worth having.

Smart is a good player and Kruger is a good coach. Smart is a flopper and Kruger's 5 seniors will graduate on time.

That "flopper" is the best player in the conferece, quit being jealous and just enjoy that sweet 11 seed. Too bad Ford can't kill it in recruiting like Kruger with all those 3 stars and JUCOs. You guys are losing Rivals 100 4 stars and bringing in 3 players with no legit offer sheets. The goal is to win games. I'd take 1 Smart over 500 Tyler Neals that waste a valuable scholarship while doing nothing but cutting farts on the bench during games for 4 years on their way to a degree.

Everyone on the OU message board can read. We all know that the flopper was named player of the year.

Kruger didn't recruit Tyler. He isn't a senior. I'd take Smart over him too.

If OU gets an 11 seed, I would think that would be pretty sweet. It has been a long time.

It seems that you draw too much of your self esteem from the accomplishments of others.

He also set the single-season record for number of flops and mystery contact. It's odd that you all keep trying to argue his accomplishments as if we're saying he's a bad player. He's not. He would be the best guard on our roster, bar none. He would still be a flopper and one of the worst in the country.

When Fran Fraschilla starts calling you out for being a flopper, you're a flopper.

I certainly don't always agree with you, but pretty much yep, all of this.

We had Blake Griffin for 2 years...They have Smart for one. Doesn't matter if we went out in the first round with Griffin or the Elite 8...We would take 2 or even 1 year with Blake then 4 years of Buddy Hield.

A Griffin, Beasley, Durant, Smart, McLemore...you take these players b/c even though you may not win it all, one year with them gives you a better shot than 4 years with Hield. B/c if Hield ever became as talented as these guys, he wouldn't be here 4 years.

Big 12 history, hmmmmm, what is that 15 years? He can't sniff the jock of Wayman Tisdale. As a freshman averaged 26 and 12 while EVERY time being double teamed and many times triple teamed. Freshman ALL- AMERICAN (not Big-8 or 12) (and SOphmore and Junior All-American) - could NOT be guarded even with 2 or 3 guys on him. Also had boatloads of blocks as well as he was a fantastic Defensive player. You want to try and make Smart into an all world player, I think KU had 2 players that were better suited for POY IMO as they won the title and OSU finished 3rd, WHERE THEY WERE PICKED preseason, by the way. Again, real good player but scoring at a 14 or 15 per game clip nothing special and yes, he has a good overall game but has a boatload of turnovers as well. And lastly, do they keep a stat for Flopping ;)

You are certainly welcome to your opinion. There is now and always will be more than one right way to do anything.

But, it is not a free roll bringing in a one and done type. Nothing is free and it comes with a cost. You risk team chemistry. There is a risk of setting the program back when they leave. Ask Rick Barnes how that works. Or mayby even ask Capel about the aftermat of Warren, Mason-Griffin, and Gallon.

Not every Coach can pull it off and not every coach wants to try. And you don't have to do it that way to put a really good team on the floor. Senior 3 stars beat freshman 5 stars all the time.

Smart is the most competitive player I have ever seen at OSU. Travis Ford said it best when he said "Smart is involved in every play on the floor good or bad". He would sweep the floors and lead the dance routine at halftime if it helped win games. I'm glad he flops, because the officials are calling it and it helps win games. When it stops working I bet he stops doing it.

Another Aggie that doesn't get the point. The consensus is that Smart is a talented player. The question is why does such a talented player feel the need to use such an angle shooting gimmick to gain an edge. And the answer is that people that use angle shooting gimmicks to gain an advantage are dimminishing the accomplishment that they acheive.

That is what I am saying. Those gimmicks are working and he is giving his team an advantage. The offinisive foul against Rodriguez was a turning point it helped OSU win the game.

I know that is what you are saying. And what I'm saying is that using an angle shooting gimmick to gain a competitive edge is sleezy, 2nd rate, and classless.

It is rare that the talented resort to that. It is usually the ordinary that grasp for those type of edges. That is why it is noteworthy in this case.

You. Cannot. Be. Serious.

Has your hatred for OSU made you delusional?

So attempting to draw fouls on shots when you're driving in the lane is "sleezy, 2nd rate and classess"?

Really?

:facepalm

What makes you think I hate OSU. I kind of like OSU. I'm kind of a cow barn kind of a guy.

The fact that you can not see that Smart is over the top and obvious with his antics makes you the delusional one.
