Softball

Softball getting beat 1-4 bottom of the third against Cal State fullerton. A mid major with a 4-6 record. Parker started the game and cost us three runs and then they stole home on Guess who? Isabella emmerling, to bring in the fourth run. Our bats look like they don't know what to do against this picture who isn't even that impressive. Figured we'd start a little sharper than this hopefully we can find our way out.
 
Ball game is tied up 4-4 going into the bottom of the fifth. Wells has hit a two-run bomb and emerling hit a solo home run but we have left five runners stranded the last two innings...
 
Sooners up 6-1 over Duke in the bottom of the 5th. We left bases juiced w/only 1 out last inning. This inning 2 on w/2 outs and Pickering up to bat. Hope she does something.

Agbayani & Dayton haven't been very good at the plate this season, IMO, which makes the bottom of our lineup not as strong but i'm hoping they pick it up with more ABs.
 
Agbayani had a rough opening weekend (Arizona + ASU) offensively, but she has been great since then and has worked her BA up to .417, and Dayton is batting .529 on the season.

Yes, they aren’t homer hitters but they are doing just fine!
 
Wow we are literally losing back-to-back games today. I don't know the last time I saw that happen and now they are putting Berzon in so it is about to get much worse... These arms just are not good this year. I don't see us being able to win another one this year. Just complete lack of fortitude beyond Lowry.
 
No pitching but also no hitting and too many fielding mistakes. I mean we start the Cal game off with runners on first and second no outs first too innings, and only one run to show from it, thanks in part to some ? coaching by the one who can't be questioned sending Parker from second trying to go home on a hard hit ball right to the outfielder. Out by 5 steps. Then we have runners first and third with pick and parker coming up. Both hit it right to first base, pick gets lucky it goes between her leg so we get one run. Thats it. Losing to these teams will keep you out of the top 8 at the end of the season which dramatically decreases your chance to getting to OKC
 
I just realized Barker is playing shortstop for Garcia in this game. That explains why our offense hasn't been as potent. Barker I don't think has gotten on base one time today not with a good hit anyway and she's not quite as sharp on defense as Gabby is either. Berzon has looked really good and basically shut down their bats and finally we have put together some good hits and our winning 7-4 going into the 7th
 
Man that game was way too close. But I'm glad they found a way to win it after being down 1 - 4. Won it 7-5. If anything, this was berzon's game to get back on track. Way too many errors and risp left stranded though.
Their coach, who was a former longhorn assistant coach got ejected out of the game after a player leaned into a pitch and they reversed the call. Even after getting ejected he wouldn't leave so they had to walk him off the field.
 
and that one loss drops OU down to #7 in the Softball America poll, go figure. Even though we runruled 3 teams that were ranked/received votes. It seems we have more trouble with opponents that aren't expected to beat us or challenge us, thus far. I think maybe they just didn't get amped up enough for LB and were tired and this will be an anomaly loss.
