Some news on Juco Center Aziz N'Diaye

Why are people comparing him to LL? LL was MAYBE 220 when he left OU, more like 210. Aziz is a legit 250 and will be a physical presence inside. Would be a nice compliment to Gallon/Fitz inside.

Yea, but that makes too much sense Quick...we suck this year, that means that every player we are recruiting must suck too...

sarcasm aside, we should all be hesitent to project guys as being perfect fits though, until we see some production on the court and see they will buy into the teams goals anything is possible...see this season

He does look like the guy we need though...that guy was huge, and built very well, not like a Tiny or Orlando...

I'm going to be the broken record again and ask, has anybody seen this guy play? Until then, any hype or negativity is unwarranted. Obviously there are a few schools interested, but keep being a seven foot center will get you that interest, whether you are really good or not.

I read a post from a guy on a Loyola Marymount board who watched Aziz play last year and his breakdown was "Wow." Not sure how credible that is though. :ez-laugh:

While I'm not completely sold that N'Diaye will come in and contribute, I don't see that OU really has a choice but to sign him and just see. Should be able to contribute as a jr/sr for sure. To what degree is the question. If Capel doesn't think he'll play, fine. But he needs to go find two guys that can.

I am sorry but if 7'0 250 is not big enough to bang, then OU won't find anyone for next year. OU needs someone who is an explosive defender and rebounder. We don't need more guys who are "big enough to bang". We need a guy who can get off the floor and alter shots.

Not saying this guy is all world, but when some NBA scouts make their way to CSI, there is something good going on with him.

I'd probably concede and agree with this. The thing is, Capel has been so poor at finding the diamond in the rough, that I question if this guy can even contribute.

Didn't we hear the same things about Allen when he was signed? He's heftier than N'Diaye and he rides the bench even in games where one of our post players is out.

Hopefully I'm wrong about N'Diaye.

Allen was specifically a project, was stated during his signing. Think Capel signed him figuring he had 3 years of eligibility left, could use one under Blake's sophomore year to get him ready and then have two years as an impact player....didn't work out that way.

N'Diaye will be a project offensively, but on the glass and defense he is ready to go.

Alluding to what I said before, NBA scouts weren't at Orlando Allen's practice.

Wait, Allen averaged something like 2 points and 1 rebound a game in juco.

N'Diaye averages much more than that I believe. If his stats are the same as ALlen's were freshman year then I will believe he can't help. Anytime I average more rebounds in juco than a post man, I know the guy will not be able to play at OU.

Just to be clear, I don't have a negative opinion of N'Diaye....I have no opinion and not sure how anybody else on here can either. Bottom line is we offered him so we must want him, and if we want a guy, I want us to get him. I'd like to get both N'Daiye and Majok Majok.

My thoughts as well.

N'Diaye is drawing interest from some pretty big time schools. I'm not worried about him being a "project".

So let me get this straight, since you guys that are calling him a project and dont want him. So a guy is only a project if he has no offensive skills, but good defensive skills? So what about Gallon that has offensive skills, but hardly any defensive skills? Do you call him a project also?

N'Daye isn't a diamond in the rough.

Exactly. No offense to BOB, but I don't think he would find any Capel recruit worthy at this time. It's understandable to an extent with the season we've had. I will say that 7'0" 250 lbs is plenty physical when you're playing against it.
