* Was asked if he thought he would here this time last week, Kruger said, "Wouldn't have even imagined it." Also said that getting back to his midwest roots in the Big 8/12 was a strong consideration in his decision.
* When asked about OU's history recruiting jucos, Kruger responded, "It's important to get really good players. You would prefers four years players, but if you can find find a good fit that's great too. He also said he had success with D-1 transfers at UNLV.
* When asked about what "he was all about as a coach" he said, "Most importantly, it's about getting good players. We've won only when we've had really good players."
Also said that he knew Capel's teams played hard, were fundamental and, "I'm excited about the guys we've got. We may be the beneficiary of them being older and moving a year forward."
* On him being written about in today's Oklahoman as not being a great recruiter, he replied, "We're always after really good players. Sometimes recruiting is based on what they've done in high school, and not what they've done in college. I'm proud of the guys we've had. I can understand wanting more highly recruited or ranked players, but it's about getting players who get results. We're going to recruit really, really hard. That's a big part of what we'll do here."
* When asked about having open practices, "We don't take what we do all that seriously. We're a small piece of the whole operation. We don't have a lot of secrets. We'll line up and go hard after it every day. There's not a lot of secrets to it. We want people to come by practice. As a parent, I loved taking my kids to practices and sitting there. We're going to win a lot of ball games, we're going to lose some, but it's about linen up every day and doing what's best."
* On his assistants, Kruger said, "It will be a combination and blend of what we've had. We'll bring a couple guys with us from UNLV, then we'll add a couple one we get here. It think it's huge we add someone with experience from the Oklahoma/Texas recruiting area. It takes someone that i think really has a good feel for the area to do that.
* When asked if he could get kids at OU he couldn't get at UNLV, he said, "It will be interesting to see. I think, quite frankly, you expect to being in the Big 12. That's kind of a logical response. We've had really good players at UNLV, and a lot of times had got them after they transferred from other schools. I think the pool of players available definitely will be larger here."
