Obviously everyone (well, almost everyone) on this board is an OU basketball fan, so it is natural for us to focus most of our attention on OU, which means that when things go bad, people tend to think the sky is falling. But if you think OU is/was in a tough spot with transfers and players being unhappy, look at what is happening at Wichita State. In addition to losing six seniors and having their best player declare for the draft, they have four kids transferring -- one of whom would have started next year, and another of whom would have played a lot of minutes. They will be bringing in nine new scholarship players in the fall. Not sure what to make of it, but just goes to show that these days, having at least one player transfer is the norm.

Wow. I wonder if there is some personality issues with Marshall. 9 new players in one year is really going to be challenging. Obviously they knew they were losing the seniors and I am sure recruited for that. It's incredible the number of players that transfer these days.

OSU and Arkansas are in similar positions... OSU still has about 4 spots to fill which after transfers, etc will make it about 8 or 9 new players I think.

Arkansas has a 7 player recruiting class, but lucky for them one of their returning players decided not to go into the NBA draft so they have a "quarter" on their team to build around.

Wasn't there a rule you could only bring in 5 scholarship players in one signing period or did I make that up?

Obviously with the comments above, I must have made that up or it has changed at some point.

Interesting perspective.

I'd take LK over Marshall any day. I love how WSU plays, but don't care for Marshall's sideline antics or his demeanor

guess our deal isn't that bad...lol.

I've heard enough stories about Marshall, being from Wichita. On top of seeing his wife act like a buffoon.

I think LK is a very outstanding guy..no doubt. I think this past season he sold out for TY and it ended up being what it was.

My hope is OU plays well...hopefully making the NCAA but I'm not expecting anything.

OSU has no seniors for the 18-19 season so 2 of the 4 spots are taken with the commitment of the Boone twins, unless they somehow manage to land 4 grad transfers this spring.

They are hunting for a few... some Wyatt Earp from Samford, guy from UC Upstate, some guy from some school in Texas... I forget all their names.

Wyatt Walker, I think, from Samford. He can play. He's a little undersized -- I think 6'6" for a big -- but he's got skills. Mike Cunningham from USC-Upstate who was going to visit OU before Calixte committed. He's a shooter who can play point -- again a little undersized at 6'1" but he can play also. He may end up at Louisville, though. I don't know who the 3rd is.

“Personality issues” is an understatement. Marshall is pretty much known to be a jerk. I think his wife is wacko, too. It’s the reason he’s still in Wichita and not at a blue blood school. He’s a very good coach in spite of everything.

There was many many years ago. It was only in effect for a year or two.

What is going on in Wichita? Seems weird. This hasn’t happened in Marshall’s tenure yet. I wonder what is going on

Is Marshall as much of a jerk to his players as he is to everyone else?

There was an article this week quoting Riley, Gundy & Montgomery saying that yelling, screaming and cursing doesn't work well with this generation of football players. Perhaps the same is true of basketball players.

People in Wichita think he’s a God. His players love him and they always play hard, or at least they have for his entire career in wichita. This years team was easily his worst defensive team in his career. I don’t know if that is a reason for some friction or not. Something is going on that hasn’t gone on before. This isn’t an accumulation of things for years. This is something specific to this years team.

I'd say "some" of the players love him. My brother knew one of the student managers...or his dad...something. Marshall was a complete ass to this kid..all the SM all the time.

I'm sure most folks "look" the other way because of his success. We'll see how it goes. WSU has nothing but basketball...baseball is decent this year but not like in the past.
