* Kruger said he isn’t sure if incoming junior-college forwards Edson Avila and Keshaun Hamilton will join the team in time for summer workouts and its 10-day European tour.

“Edson Avila and Keshaun Hamilton probably will be finishing up their work,” Kruger said. “There’s a chance of them not being able to practice and going on that trip, but that remains to be seen.”

There are other comments in the linked article that are encouraging and positive, but I was hopeful that the new post players would have all summer to workout with Yo-Yo and their OU teammates. We can hope that it all works out, and that Edson Avila and Keshaun Hamilton will join the team in time for summer workouts and the European trip.

I sure hope they can find a way to go! If they dont make it to Europe does Cole play the 4th big man with Cam Spangler Bennet?

That would make it difficult for those two guys to get a starting spart. In fact, it may make it difficult for them to get much playing time. I would think a pretty solid rotation of Spangler, Clark and Bennett would be established in those practices and games.

It would have to be either C.J. Cole, Tyler Neal, or Steve Noworyta.

I suspect that Spangler and Bennett would get LOTS of minutes. Not really a bad thing in the circumstances.

But, it's a good opportunity for other players to improve their games via more practice and court time.

While true, I could see those two playing pretty minor roles on next year's team, regardless of whether they get to make this trip or not. Obviously I'd rather they get exposed to the extra practices and games, but in my mind, those guys probably aren't the key to next season for us.

I too was hoping everyone would be on board. Not just for the trip, but, also the summer conditioning drills and individual workouts. The two juco bigs will probably be needed to play some this fall.

But, others need the minutes in the exhibition games worse than they do. Spangler and Bennett are coming off a sit out year. It wouldn't hurt those two to get 30+ min. each as often as they can. CJ Cole came in and worked and contributed a lot in practice all season. It will be good for him to get the minutes to show what he is capable of.

It will good all the way around. In games that don't count. Woodard and Booker will be introduced to what basketball is like when not defended by a high school kid. Hamilton and Avila will come in a little further behind. But, all the players likely to be in a 8 man rotation are there.

Even moreso when you sign 'em late in the period. At least we can infer that Avila has desirable enough basketball skills in Kruger's mind to overcome not having his schoolwork all accounted for...
