Andrew Wiggins just signed with the Jayhawks.

Self is some kind of baller. That old $100 bill under the toupee trick works again.

Yep, KU is definitely the favorite now, if you didn't already have them there.

Lol.

That didn't take long. Never bet against KU.

I hope the Pokes that were here last week telling us OSU would be the clear favorite will return and admit they were wrong.

Dirty birds win the bidding war. Ku fans are the worst hands down.

Pretty huge to get him from Kentucky.

Yes and no.

I never understood why Wiggins would want to go to a loaded team like that. He will get more shots and minutes at KU, still play for a good team/coach, and still have a shot at showcasing himself in the Dance.

There are going to be some really good players on that UK roster next that don't get the minutes/shots they deserve. That is a turn-off to some players.

Doubt it.

Kentucky, Louisville, and Michigan State would all beat Kansas by 15+ IMO.

If they got Wiggins and Black, along with what they already have? No way. Not by the end of the year.

if they get tarik black...they could win it all

I don't get all the love for Tarik Black. Dude averages 9 points and less than 5 rebounds per game at Memphis. He's kind of a spare that happens to be big and athletic. His shooting range is about 2 feet.

We were the clear favorite prior to the Wiggins committment.

I don't think there is anything wrong or outrageous to have said that. KU although they brought in talented guys were going to start 3 or 4 freshman.

Wiggins is not just a talented player though. He is one of the best HS players since Lebron.

KU is definitely the favorite as their talent level far exceeds OSU's and what experience OSU players have over KU's is far outweighed by Self's coaching ability compared to Ford.

Not to diss on Ford, as I think he is a fine coach(although overpaid) but he is far from a 'great' coach like Self is.

OSU still has a chance though and it'll be a great year of bball

Why? Because I didn't decide to predict the future and foretell that Wiggins was going to sign with KU?

If you go back and look at my posts, I repeatedly said, "based on what we know now."

As for Wiggins, I know he's supposed to be an amazing talent, so we'll see.

I'm curious -- what is your prediction for what Wiggins will contribute? Will he basically just replace McLemore's ~16 ppg? Will he exceed what McLemore did?

It's not like you're really going out on a limb there. How many coaches are "great" like Self? You could argue that he's the second best coach in college basketball right now, behind only Rick Pitino.

Yeah, I'm moreso just stating that KU having Self gives them an advantage over OSU having Ford.

KU wins the coaching matchup over OSU.

But I wanted to make a point that I'm not one of those OSU fans who is a Suttonista who hates Ford.

I don't know if there is that many coaches out there that could have done what Ford has done with this program since he has been here. The state of OSU bball was in terrible shape after Sean and Ford has done a fine job.

I wouldn't call it all world though and I do think he got his big payday a few years early but it has helped create stability around OSU bball.

Regardless, KU and OSU will be neck and neck next year. KU with the edge due to history and coaching.

Baylor, OU, KSU, ISU, UT should be in the second tier with Baylor probably being closest to OSU and KU.

WVU, TCU, Tech bottom feeders.

A prediction of conference finish is in fact your thought of what will happen in the future.

You bet against KU. I told you that was a bad idea. I was right.

Wiggins will blow McLemore out of the water. They might be similar scoring the ball, but Wiggins contributes in literally every facet of the game. Not unlike Marcus Smart, actually.

If anything though, I think this cements OSU as the clear second choice. They're likely the only team, perhaps along with Baylor that can steal a game from KU at home. No one will beat them in Lawrence.

Well in the previous thread I with others already picked KU to win it, so this just solidifies it. Black, albeit a guy who never lived up to being a 5 star, has the physical tools to help any frontcourt. That's why Duke, Oregon, and a lot of other schools want him for 1 year. If KU gets Black they will walk away with the Big 12. Black, Ellis, Embiid, and Wiggins 3/4 in the frontcourt. That's nasty.

On the UK talk, lets see how players gel with the Harrison twins. Those guys don't gel with anybody.

With OSU I just don't see an improvement with them over last year. I actually see Smart pressing a bit, and having a very good year but not living up to expectations.

Rumor has it UK lost out on Wiggins when the Harrison twins posted the infamous "vine video." In the video, the twins talk trash on Wiggins, saying how they don't need him and use profanity towards him. The video, sadly, has been removed.

The Harrison twins sound like bigger idiots than TMG. Not just off the vine but in every interview I have heard them do

That's 100% ridiculous.

You make conference predictions based on facts as you know them at a given time. There was no way of knowing for sure last week that Wiggins would be going to KU. That doesn't make you "right" about OSU being a bad pick, any more than you would be "right" if, for example, Marcus Smart would blow out his knee during the second week of the season.

The smart pick last week was OSU. Now with Wiggins going to KU, you can start to make an argument that KU should be the pick for 1st in the league, but OSU still has a pretty good case.

Wiggins will blow McLemore out of the water. They might be similar scoring the ball, but Wiggins contributes in literally every facet of the game. Not unlike Marcus Smart, actually.

Wiggins will "blow out of the water" the guy who is currently projected to be the #1 pick in the NBA draft? Give me a break.

I don't doubt that Wiggins is great, but I think you're also undervaluing McLemore there just a bit.

If anything though, I think this cements OSU as the clear second choice. They're likely the only team, perhaps along with Baylor that can steal a game from KU at home. No one will beat them in Lawrence.

We'll see. I continue to believe that you're undervaluing the 4 senior starters that KU was rolling out there last year.

I know that KU has some talented guys returning (and obviously coming in), but those 4 senior starters had tons of talent and experience. That's not easily duplicated, even by very talented young players. Just look at Kentucky this year as a good example.

Yes, I know that Self is a better coach than Cal, I just think KU will miss those four seniors more than you think.
