Source Tommy Mason Griffin leaves Sooners

Agreed. Not everyone is going to be our favorite person on or off the court, but talent is talent and we don't have anyone here or anyone coming in who is going to be as good. We are going to be bad next year, I suspect.

Well put. Anyone who thinks that Marquise Carter is going to come in and run the show like TMG would have as a soph is setting themselves up to be diappointed. The only thing that would make me hopeful would be if Capel could somehow get back in with Ray McCallum.

How stupid.. I am shocked.. This guy just pissed away a great future

This is terrible. Don't let people fool you by talking about TMG's defense or his facebook. This has the potential to set us back a couple of years....

Really sad day for OU basketball.

I agree this is a huge setback that really stings. However, in this case maybe cutting ties now is for the best. If it was in his head he was leaving for pay for play ASAP, we were not getting 4 years out of him anyways.

TMG's defense was non-existent this year. That is a fact.

Now, this does hurt the program and probably does set the team back.

I don't really think this is that bad a thing.

This is going to hurt the program, no doubt about it. OU is losing the foundation and expected future of the program.

It now seems inevitable that OU loses Willie Warren, Tommy Mason-Griffin, and Tiny Gallon. These are 3 pro level, all conference, all-american caliber TALENTS. Thats tough to lose...

OU is going to need to get REALLY lucky with juco's this offseason and hope they all pan out enough to form a competitive team. If not, next season could be worse than this one.

Aziz is a must get at this point. A JUCO PG is also a must get.

Offensively this is a loss. Defensively this is a gain. For team chemistry this is a blessing. Guess which is most important?

If we can somehow keep Gallon and/or Warren I'm not too worried about this loss

I remember many of us saying this same thing when Lavender left

Well I guess now when you tell Terrence Jones he can come in and run the point, you won't be lying.

Geesh.

The doom and gloom perspective is a bunch of crap for most folks expected the past season to be a very sucessful one and look at how that panned out. Now these very same soothsayers are in the process of making sage predictions once again.

Right now we have a starting lineup of Taylor, Pledger, Clark, Davis, Fitzgerald and no bench. We don't know if Taylor can play defense as well or better than TMG, although hopefully he does.

Just remember, JUCO isn't the answer all the time. Chris Walker and Omar Leary were our last two PG's. Walker was not very good, Leary was better, but I don't think anyone confused him with a starting Big XII PG. JUCO can be the answer, but it isn't always.

TMG is a 3-4 year player who would likely be an All American by his junior year. To say this loss isnt big is just dumb (that is if he isnt coming back). No he didnt play any defense but a lot of freshman have that problem and just think of it this way, it cant get any worse.

The only way its possible to say its not a big hit to the program is if he just is that big of a cancer and this past season's debacle was all laid on his feet.

Since Capel didn't mention TMG in his last radio interview it makes me wonder if they aren't trying to paint it this way. Either that, or maybe TMG hasn't been going to class or doing homework so he wouldn't be eligible anyway?

Seems like if Capel wanted him back he would have mentioned him on the radio...maybe not, though.
