Starting lineup

I bet you that Fitz would be starting at the 4 for KU

how much do you want to bet?

I don't think Fitz would even make the roster at KU. That's no shot at him, not many players in the Big 12 would get playing time in Larryville, but he has definite deficiencies that would prevent him from playing for Bill Self. Mobility, ability to play defense and rebounding are the big 3. Self requires all 3 from his inside guys.

Kevin Young starts at Power forward. He would not play over Fitz on our team!

And I would bet you any amount of money in the world.

Based on recruiting rankings you are probably right but based on results you are very wrong. Fitz is good at scoring but basketball is so much more than that. Recruiting rankings mean nothing.

I don't care about rankings...I watch Kansas play...Young sucks.

Young is starting because the frosh hasn't come around yet. Add to that, a player like Fitz isn't going to help Withey in the post, interior spacing would be a huge problem. That's why a guy like Young is seeing time.

And if Clark and Fitz are really "pissed" they aren't playing more, than earn the additional playing time when you get on the floor. They have had years to turn this program around and haven't done a thing.

Earn more playing time through your performance. What a novel idea!

I would like to see Clark get his chance as a starter. He's a good defender who has the potential for a big game offensively.

Fitz, despite his improved conditioning, has not developed into the player most of thought he would be when he was a freshman. His game is limited to shots from the baseline and the wing from 15 feet and in. He's good from those areas.

The problem this year, at least in my opinion, is that he has moved away from those spots and is now taking shots from outside his range. I don't know if that's a product of our offense or it's something he's doing on his own? I do know that when he takes a shot from outside his comfortable range, it's a bad shot, even if it goes in.

Earn it on the court? Clark has a huge game against aTm and then the next game, Kruger gives him only 18 mins. Thats 2 more minutes than Cousins. 8 more minutes than Neal.

Funny how our expectations can change when we haven't seen a truly "huge game" in sometime. Cam had a very good game against ATM. I wouldn't call 17 points and 4 rebounds, huge.

He didn't play more in the SFA game because he came out cold, which is all too typical of the way Cam has played his entire career so far. He is just as capable of disappearing as he is of having a big game. Do you really think that if he was having an impact in the SFA game, his minutes would have been limited to 18? I'd rather believe that his 1 of 4 shooting, only 2 rebounds and 2 turnovers had more to do with it. But that's just me.

One thing we agree on is that Cam has earned a chance to start. That's not because he is playing all that great. Truth is he has only had one really good game the entire season. That's largely due to his potential to play better, and the fact that Cousins has not been playing well.

Not that who starts matters all that much. The players on the floor in the final five minutes are a lot more important. If you'll recall, one of those players in the SFA game was Cam. His turnover on one end of the floor in the final minute or so, a crucial time to be sure, followed by a foul on the other end, did not earn him any points with the coaching staff. Just saying that there is more to the game than meets the eye sometimes.

Exactly.

They haven't exactly stood out, and made it tough for LK not to play them more.

Did you watch the game? Clark came off the bench and immediately was out of control, not within himself at all.

You want consistent minutes as upper-classmen? Need to bring a consistent positive impact.

Whats your opinion on Young?

He was recruited by the best coach in the Big 12 and he starts for the best program in the Big 12. I think he's a lot better than you give him credit and does what Self asks him to do.

Fitz would not touch the floor if he played for KU. He is too slow and not physical enough on defense or on the boards to play for Self. Just because Capel signed Fitz does not mean he's a great player.

I know it's tough for you to accept but that's just how it is.

Have you seen Young play???

He averaged 11 mpg and 3 ppg last season.

I watch KU all the time...He sucks. Go watch KU and then judge.

You are entitled to your opinion, but I'll take Bill Self's over yours. He knows a thing or 2 about winning basketball.

Must be nice to be a better basketball coach, and better judge of talent than both LK and Bill Self.

His team is going to win about 30 games this year so he must do something right.
