Because we lost a lot of offensive firepower and rebounding, I hope Coach K emphasizes defense. I think we will be good enough offensively such that if we are good on the defensive side of the ball we will win some games that we wont be favored in. The better we are defensively the further we will go.

Everyone will have to board. Maybe McNease and Buford will improve a lot. We need at least 5 rpg from each of them

If Odomes starts, as small as our lineup is he is a taller wing. We will need at least 5 a game from him. Christian James is an excellent rebounder for a wing. If Buford improves and our wings go a little beast mode on the rebounding then it can probably work out..

Listening to a few comments from crutch today and new ast coach Hartman.

James will play the 4 some. Doolittle will play a lot early and freeman is behind Doolittle.

He said they rarely peg guys as 1-5 and the "4" man is basically a guard. Which is what most teams do these days.

So Doolittle is definitely in the top 8 right now with McNease probably.. I wonder who the other guard will be, Strong or McGusty? Assuming the starters are Woodard-James-Odomes-Buford-Lattin...

Both. I think Strong will backup Woodard and McGusty will get a lot of minutes on the wing. I also heard thru a reliable source that the coaches are excited about Doolittle's upside and athleticism (I see him as a Buford backup at the 4, not as a wing). That doesn't necessarily put him in the top 8. Also, I think they start with a top 10 or 11 during non-conference play. Teams don't usually pare to a top 8 or 9 until close to tournament time.

I'm confident we will see a lot of early combinations and experiments. It may even cost us a game or two but will pay off in the long run. JMHO. There is a lot of practice and learning before we will know, but it's sure fun guessing on a message board.

Thanks for all the info. Really needed this time of year!

My thing about Doolittle is I hope he really tries to score. He seems like such a good kid and very unselfish on the court, which some players can be to a fault. He seems to have a really good midrange game. We'll definitely need that scoring off the bench.

Crutch said today they'll be able to pick and roll him. Pick and pop and then he drive it as well off the pop.
