You actually have a point, considering you're a poke. All the old people with the good seats who don't show up to OU games anyway can just stay at home for this one too. Might be too harsh to handle.
Having attended hundreds of college basketball games, I don't think I have ever seen students get on a bench player to any significant degree. If a bench player shoots an air ball, he will get an obligatory air ball chant. I just think the original poster is worried about something that is not likely to be an issue.
I would expect the students to get on Smart, Ford, Brown, Nash, and Williams in that order. If they have the energy to heckle others I would think Murphy and Forte would be more likely targets. Who cares about a guy that plays 16 minutes and averages less than 6 points a game. Perhaps his weed smoking makes him an easy target but I really don't see him taking much grief from the students. (I also don't care if he does.)
He was an oklahoma high school star so his name is well known around here. Also he's been in the news a lot and he's an aggie, so I will be really disappointed if he doesn't get heckled some.
Who cares if his brother comes to OU, after all it is OU, and we will fill up with other big recruits who won't have hurt feelings over their brother catching some crap for being an aggie. Compile that with his drug use and shady recruiting. I really don't care if he goes to LSU based on that reasoning. With family history, not sure you want that kind of apple in the program anyway.
This thread disappoints me on many levels, but this may be the most ridiculous post in the thread.
I would imagine if a 4* basketball recruit was in for a football game and his brother played for the opposing team, it would be common sense not to verbally attack his brother from the stands. Not sure what is so hard about cheering OU, jeering OSU and keeping anything personal towards Stevie Clark out of it. Seems like common sense, really.
I can count on less than one finger how many times I thought about football recruiting when I was at a basketball game in college. Seriously. Wouldn't have even known a recruit was there. All I know is I'd be embarrassed today at some of the stuff I yelled at Gottlieb, Muonecke, etc. That said, I wouldn't trade those days for anything!
Have fun, students. That's the most important thing!
For certain tonight neither he or his mother will be participating in OU's Whiteout or rooting for an OU victory. You have to take it for what it is. An aggie fmily attending to root for their family member.
Any Sooner blood Deondre may have will surface on his first day attending school as a Sooner.
Through the years, our home crowd has caught plenty of flak for not showing up for games and/or not creating a home-court atmosphere. Because of that, they shouldn't be discouraged for doing whatever it takes to get under the skin of the opposing players.
With that said, I'm secretly hoping they focus on the OSU starters and take it a bit easy on Stevie (though understand if they don't). Football recruiting on the defensive side of the ball has not gone well for several years. It's scary to think we only have two defensive starters in the NFL (McCoy and Lofton) when most of the big boys have 10-15 on average...we really need all the help we can get, hence the plea from the original poster.
