Surprised there is no SAE discussion

OU football just lost OT Jean Delance because of the video. He just de-committed.

This is a perfect example of what is wrong with America these days.

OU did not lose Delance because of the video. This kid has been teetering on the edge of decommitting for weeks now. It was only a matter of time.

People are taking a situation that happens nearly every day, with all races, and turning it into something it doesn't need to be turned into.

This will blow over in a few days. No big deal.

What will remain is our swift, decisive action regarding the matter. No messing around, just bringing down the hammer.

That will be remembered for a long time.

According to this article, it had a lot to do with the de-commitment. He had just confirmed his commitment on Sunday after visiting this weekend.

And I posted on another site yesterday, after he "confirmation", along with a bunch of other Sooner fans, that he was still likely gone. That confirmation was just telling OU people what they wanted to hear. This guy has had one foot out the door for weeks or a month now. Maybe even a bit longer. I'm not sure if the timing was a complete coincidence, or if the kid decided to use it as kind of a behind the scenes reason, but I can promise it wasn't the real reason. The real reason was the offer from LSU, and a couple other offers that came after OU's.

You're right about Delance, but wrong about the rest.

Not at all races sing about lynching other races. They simply don't. And if they did, it would have less resonance because their grandparents (figuratively, if not literally, speaking) didn't actually lynch (figuratively, if not literally speaking) our grandparents (I don't know your racial heritage, WT; the above presumes that, like me, you are primarily Caucasian).

What's wrong with America these days is not overreaction to racism, but that racism is still as pervasive as it is. Great progress has been made, and thank God for that, but many want to pretend that we're basically at square one now, that racism is now a thing of the past except for a few bad apples.

I wish it were so, but it's not. Not by a long shot. Pretending that everything is ok now, that recent (and not-so-recent) history doesn't matter any more, accomplishes nothing.

I'm very proud of President Boren for his swift and righteously angry response, and of OU students and faculty of every race and color who have spoken out with passion against these bigots.

That holds a lot less weight, when you consider that the other schools that make up his top 4, Texas, Texas A&M, and South Carolina all have horrible racial histories.

David Boren immediately kicked the fraternity off campus and the students overwhelmingly responded their disgust for those kids actions. DeLance wanted out of OU, this is an excuse.

This is really sad. To my knowledge, my family had little to do with owning slaves, selling slaves, etc. While you're right, we shouldn't act like we're at square one, how do you apply fault to someone based on the color of their skin when that's exactly what we're fighting against? Until we all get over assigning each other and ourselves to groups based on skin color, racism will never go away.

100% agree!

No idea. It said "cool off". Literally, no idea what he's talking about.

I went and read you posts and didn't see anything bad. CHS was banned too. Seems like usao isn't very lenient of conservative talk

Football team walked 5 guys arm and arm into practice and stood for 5 mins. then recited the lords prayer and walked out.
Bob stoops along side.

As horrible as people talk to one another over there, I simply can't understand how he got bent about anything I posted. I'm a fairly honest guy and admit if I go too far and will apologize as such, but I just don't know what he was possibly upset about.

The last post I made, ironically enough, was basically the same thing I just responded above when someone attempted to make a broad assertion about "white people". I just find it ironic that people blame a group based on skin color when that's what we're trying to fight.

I'm at work. A simple google search will give you reading material on the subject for the rest of the night.

I just did a google search and couldn't find any rap lyrics about lynching white people.

Sorry, didn't realize it had to be specific to lynching.

Killing white folks is fine. Shooting them. Stabbing them. Running them over. But no lynching, right? That's where you draw the line?
