I think it's funny that everyone seems to be surprised about this start to the season. Honestly, when I saw Chaminade play Michigan State, I said to my wife, "I hope we don't play them. We won't match up well."

This year was going to be a throw away year from the start. We lost every shred of talent we had, and we lost it late in the recruiting cycle. Capel gets a 1-year break from me. If this happens again next year, I want to find a replacement.

My guess is that Joe C. is thinking the same way. This mess is Jeff's fault because he didn't properly evaluate personalities. He has done a good job bringing in talent. Let's see next year if he can learn to evaluate personalities, too.

No let's fire him right now and bring someone in that we know can do the job.

Yes, get used to it. You'll be able to say "we don't match up well" every game this year.

I think this is the "thought through" response. Agree with it, but Chaminade man, Chaminade! Capel will get one more year., but it won't be based on performance.

All were recruited by Capel. That's a list of program killers. We are feeling the effects of those guys not being part of the program right now and building off of them.

Good call on Wichita State and UCONN.

Not surprised we lost to UK and Virginia but am surprised we lost to Chaminade. We should beat them even in our worst year of basketball.

You can sit here and label each player with something but it's the HC's job to COACH all aspects of a program. Whether that's development (Allen, Willis) or behavioral problems (Maze, Early, Patillo, Clark, etc). He shouldn't get a pass for bringing so many low character guys into the program in the first place. As far as development goes, let me ask this...Did Warren improve much under Capel? I'll hang up and listen.

Agree with most of this, but Warren was not a NBA-sub when he came to OU. He is definitely better from when he was a senior in high school.

I think booting kids with behavior problems and can't abide by team rules is a pretty good coaching job. You want Capel to be Tom Penders, or Calipari??? You can't really know if a kid is going to be a bad seed or not until they are on campus every day. I don't think he he should be looked down on for getting rid of kids that some coaches won't.

Development yes that is the coaches responsibility, but some players just aren't good (Allen, Hardrick). I was suprised Willis didn't get any better. But many players have progressed under Capel (Longar, Crocker, Davis, etc.) Willie Warren was Willie Warren and all he cared about was himself.

I'm not saying Capel shouldn't be held responsible for the goings on of the basketball program. But I think with the fallout of last season people are overlooking what he did in his first 3 years and focusing on last season and 6 games into this season.
