Things may be a bit better next year but I wouldn't put any money on it

For certain OSU loses more with Goodwin, Coleman, Jensen and Small than we lose with Manning, Ortiz, Williams and Vivi so there is hope for next year. Of course the pukes have Littell and we have Sherri. At least on paper we have more talent coming in next year.

OU is bring in more talent, and returns more so I think we should swept them next year... I’m more disappointed that we no longer have a rivalry with Baylor.

Nope but Baylor has a door mat in OU 2-14 the last 7 years.

Statistically, both teams lose similar contributions from their Sr class.
Oklahoma: 61% scoring. 55% rebounds. 57% assists.
OSU: 59% scoring. 58% rebounds. 52% assists.

On paper, Oklahoma is the more talented team this year. Definitely have a better class coming in than OSU.
If Wheeler comes back and equal her So. production that will help with the loss of Goodwin. Combs going out with injury this year is forcing other players to get experience in the Big 12. OSU will have no inside game next year and that will be the downfall in the Big 12.

I'll take Jensen, Goodwin and Coleman over Vivi, Ortiz and Manning everyday of the week to start a basketball team. The OSU three are scoring 47.4, 22.4 boards and 8.5 assist per game. The Sooners 41.7, 19.0 and 6.3.

But don't forget basketball is a team game and the pukes are averaging 7.8 more points and allowing 9.2 fewer points. I would definitely say the puke trio are far more productive.

I am not a big follower of the team, but I wonder how long Sherri will continue to coach? Is there a common thought on what caused the drop off from the old days?

Every coach has a lull. Even the greats " Switzer, Stoops, and Billy Tubbs". Coale had a great 2018 recruiting. Lets see who she signs for 2019. A lot of good talent in Oklahoma 2020 - 2023. Maybe she can get a Brown or Amihere. I still have faith in Coale and the womans program. Next year I plan on getting season tickets. How can she build something great if the fans do not show up. Although watching other teams play on TV. I would say OU is not the only team with attendance problems. I usually only watch 2 or 3 games live a year. Then watch the rest on TV. Also, I do see improvement in Pellington. I wish Simpson could get more time on the floor. Lampkin might be a surprise. She scored 39 the other night. Next year OU will have more depth. Players that know how to score.

My thought is Sherri getting older and not willing to make much if any changes. I feel she is way to conformable and most likely feels like she is untouchable job wise

I thought that too, but now I'm wondering if there has been a conversation with her, which resulted in the recruiting class for next year. Not sure if it will actually make us competitive with Baylor, which for me is the minimum level where this team needs to be. If there has been a conversation they will give her a couple of more years to produce results.

I don't know if it was coaching, player leadership, or just bedlam rivalry but you cannot fault the OU team (or OSU for that matter) for not giving full effort and concentration. We shot 3's for a very low percentage, especially early, but the effort and obvious preparation was apparent.
Missing 3's early on-0 for 8 I think to start-, not smart fouls by VIvi in the first half, and uneven officiating all hurt OU. Without Vivi we couldn't control OSU's inside game without help, and they took advantage of that defensive lack by going on a good run.
But I will continue to attend, and support the team if they give this level of effort, and preparation.
I also hope that incoming freshman give us an infusion of talent and a better team, but with 6 or 7 freshmen and 3 sophs being the core of the team, it will be difficult to be consistent, and play well early.

Her in game coaching needs some improvement also. Never been that good we have always been a team that turns it over way too much.
But against osu when we are about to inbound from under our own goal, with what 7 seconds to play, and she takes out Pellington? for Penzo? Was she not watching the game? Our leading scorer who basically got to the rim at will.
And does anyone know, is Lanesia Williams hurt or in the dog house? Didn't play a second

Penzo is a better passer and its not Shaina strength by a bunch. Obviously Penzo made a great pass getting the ball to Maddie for the score. Unfortunately Maddie traveled. Any other circumstance and Penzo would have been on the bench.

She took our best player that night out. We lost. She would not be in the game to pass, she would be in the game to score.

I don't know that it was the right move, but here are my thoughts.

1. Shaina was scoring well. But, she is not a shooter. She needed to get to the rim. Since there was so little time off, they would be guarding the rim, and I don't think Shaina could have gotten there. Her speed wouldn't have helped because they were already there, surrounding the basket. Her height was a disadvantage in that situation.

2. If you were to try to get to the rim, you needed someone who could shoot free throws. They weren't about to let you get there. Maddie got there, and she was fouled (Coleman had her hand on the shoulder trying to restrain Maddie). At worst, you have Maddie trying to make two free throws to win or one to tie. You like those odds. Instead, they called traveling. Interesting that they tried to wave off Ana's three. Now, they make a call to wave off Maddie's layup.

3. Go back and look at the play again. It is "traveling" with Coleman's hand restraining Maddie? They could have just said nothing and let the play stand. This would be the call in most games---a last-second wave-off with the officials determining the outcome? It could have been a foul on Coleman. Instead, they choose the one call that would let OSU win.

4. Vivi would probably have tried to go over Jensen and missed. Gabbi is too short to get inside and had just missed a three. Want to try it again? She would likely have hit the free throws if fouled.

5. We called the right play, probably with the right person. Now, should it have been:
---no call
---a foul on Coleman
---traveling

I can remember DRob driving to the rim in the same situation against A&M. They tackled her. No call. They had been calling us on every A&M drive. Had been calling them on DRob's drives. But, with two seconds left, they didn't make a call.
