She took our best player that night out. We lost. She would not be in the game to pass, she would be in the game to score.

And how is Penzo supposed to score throwing the ball in from out of bounds? And yes immediately prior to Sherri substituting Penzo for Shaina. Shaina was out of bounds to be the passer and bothced it resulting in the Penzo substitution.

Every coach has a lull. Even the greats " Switzer, Stoops, and Billy Tubbs". Coale had a great 2018 recruiting. Lets see who she signs for 2019. A lot of good talent in Oklahoma 2020 - 2023. Maybe she can get a Brown or Amihere. I still have faith in Coale and the womans program. Next year I plan on getting season tickets. How can she build something great if the fans do not show up. Although watching other teams play on TV. I would say OU is not the only team with attendance problems. I usually only watch 2 or 3 games live a year. Then watch the rest on TV. Also, I do see improvement in Pellington. I wish Simpson could get more time on the floor. Lampkin might be a surprise. She scored 39 the other night. Next year OU will have more depth. Players that know how to score.

The greatness of the 2018 class is really Madi and Tatum, Madi the high school All American, Tatum the 3,000 point scorer... both are said to be outstanding defenders. The other 4 kids might not help much early on in there careers but will help at some point, Taylor could be a surprise since she's a shooter, and Sherri will always find minutes early on for a shooter. For 2019 if we can sign another McDonald's All American/ Future WNBA pro/ Potential USA national team member, like Williams projects, then we have a chance to volt back near the top of the Big12 and possibly a Final Four before you know it...

If we were under osu's basket with a few seconds left and had to go the length of the court, Shaina never would've come out. We needed someone to make one inbounds pass from under our own basket, which is a huge strength of Penzo's, not Shaina.

Not saying Coach Coale doesn't ever deserve any criticism, but that substitution was 100% the right move. If you recall, Shaina actually attempted the pass before the substitution and threw it off a Cowgirl's foot. Penzo's attempt was right on the money.

Throw the stats out. When it comes down to it, OSU's losing much more than OU is. Their seniors appear to be MUCH more dependable than our seniors. Jensen is a BEAST. And Goodwin has almost single handedly changed the profile of this team this year from a team expected to place at the bottom half of the big 12 to a team that I think may threaten Baylor (at least split with them), which never would have been said prior to her transferring in. I think our seniors are easily replaceable with what we have coming in, whereas I think OSU will be hurting losing what they are losing. Now, i'm not sure what new commits they have coming in, but I do see OU beating them next year (unless we have injuries or more transfers, knock on wood).

Statistically, both teams lose similar contributions from their Sr class.
Oklahoma: 61% scoring. 55% rebounds. 57% assists.
OSU: 59% scoring. 58% rebounds. 52% assists.

On paper, Oklahoma is the more talented team this year. Definitely have a better class coming in than OSU.
If Wheeler comes back and equal her So. production that will help with the loss of Goodwin. Combs going out with injury this year is forcing other players to get experience in the Big 12. OSU will have no inside game next year and that will be the downfall in the Big 12.

Neither one of them, being very short, should have been throwing it in. Maybe Maddie. Instead we take out our best player and throw the ball to someone who at one time was perhaps our best player but hardly scored at all. Whatever it was, it did not work, and we lost.

It is very common for teams to use their PG to throw the ball in underneath the basketball. In theory, the PG is your best passer and will be able to make the best decision and read the defense. Did you see the pass that Penzo made? That is the definition of threading the needle. Not another player on the team would have been able to make that pass.

From a consistency standpoint, I agree. Without Goodwin, this would be an entirely different team for sure. However, Oklahoma NEEDS VPL to be in the game or their offense completely stalls. See the 2nd quarter of each Bedlam game.
Oklahoma is definitely bringing in the better class next year. Barring any transfers in or out for either team, Oklahoma should be the better team.

Seems both teams are going from relying on a strong inside game this year, to relying on guards next year.
