We had a team of Jeckyls and Hydes this year

In their best games

TMG averaged 23 points per game in 10 games with a high of 38

Willie averaged 23.4 in 11 games with a high of 30

Tiny Gallon averaged 16.8 points in 10 games with a high of 20

Tony Crocker averaged 19.1 points per game in 10 games with a high of 33

Andrew Fitzgerald averaged 13.4 points per game in 5 games with a high of 16

Steven Pledger averaged 20.4 points per game in 3 games with a high of 23

You would thing with that kind of talent we would have at least made the NIT

Unfortunately it was rare that more than one or two would have a good game on the same night.

In the remainder of the games the same players averaged

TMG 9.9
Warren 9.9
Gallon 6.0
Crocker 7.6
Davis 6.3
Fitzgerald 6.3
Pledger 4.6

TMG had 2 games with 30 or more points and 4 others with 20 or more
Willie had one game with 30 and 7 others with 20 or more
Gallon had 2 games with 20 or more and 6 games with 15 or more
Crocker had one game with 30 or more and two games with 20 or more
Davis had one game with 30 or more and 7 other games with 18 or more
Pledger had two games with 20 or more.

Our problem was not lack of talent.

I think it is an interesting observation.

OU "had" three guys that offensively could each go for 20 on any given night. The problem was that for one player to "get his", the other two weren't getting theirs and might be lucky to get 5-10 points. People were all excited about getting a "true" point guard, but Austin Johnson led the team better than either WW or TMG ever could have hoped to have done.

Maybe I am old-fashioned, but I view a point guard as the first line of defense and the last option on offense so long as other guys are getting it done. This isn't to rip players, particularly a guy who hasn't even been on campus the entire year. BUT whether it is WW, TMG or someone else, I hope they figure out the position and I hope Jeff can get them there. Winning is so much better than stats.
